No. Why would you think that?

You just have to understand the articles of faith (Iman- The Core Beliefs of Islam) and, to become a "Mu'min" (true believer) you need to practice the religion by practicing the 5 pillars of Islam (see below):

1. Belief in God:
One God, Al-mighty being, supreme creator of the universe and all things in existence. He has no son, nor father. He doesn’t give birth, nor was he born.He has always existed.

2. Belief in His angels (Gabriel, Michael and others)

3. Belief in the revealed Books of God:
The Scrolls of Abraham (Suhuf)
The Law of Moses (Taurah)
The Psalms of David (Zabur)
The Gospel of Jesus (InJeel)
The Reading of Muhammad (Qur’an)

4. Belief in God’s many prophets:
There are 25 prophets mentioned in the Qur’an:
The Major Prophets are:
Nuh (Noah)
Ibrahim (Abraham)
Musa (Moses)
Sulayman (Solomon)
‘Isa (Jesus)
Muhammad

5. Accepting that there will be a Last Day
The day of Judgment is inevitable
It can happen at any second.
God decides on when this event occurs.

6. Belief in the divine measurement of human affairs
Destiny and fate.
Good versus Bad deeds. The righteous will be rewarded.
Our actions are written in our books and will be shown to us on the day of Judgment. It will contain every single detail of our lives.

7. Belief in a life after death
“Al-Jannah” (Paradise)
“Jahannam” (Hell-Fire)
“Barzakh” (Partition. Time between death and resurrection)

Here are 5 pillars of Islam that every Muslim should practice:

1. Shahadah – Declaring allegiance to God (also called “Declaration of Faith’)
2. Salat – Daily prayer
3. Zakat – Annual charity
4. Saum – Month-long fasting (Ramadan)
5. Hajj – The pilgrimage to Mecca

You should know and understand Islam.

But most of all you should believe in the Quran and the teachings of the Prophet.

To change ones religions should not be taken lightly. Personally I studied Islam for 10 years before converting to Islam. The first 5 years was personal study. then 5 years of practice. Then last year I fully converted.

So it is all about your own personal journey and no one can tell you how long it will take a single person.

The word Muslim means: Follower of truth.

You dont need to study a llot. You need to start reading Qur'an and in there, you will find by yourself if that is the path you were waiting for.

Do not let anyone interfere by saying that Muslim religion is wrong and they beat women, because they are just lies.

And my fact is this:

Qur'an have brought to existence the rights of woman that they now enjoy because on the time that it was revealed, Men were burrying just-born girls straight to the grave. Without giving them a minute to live their lives. and furthermore, it secured the right of heritage when the church stripped of that right by portraying woman as a witch.

just recite the shahadah [there is no God but Allah (sw) and Muhammad (saw) is the messenger of God] and have a few witnesses.

Thats all.. but hopefully your intention is truly to become Muslim. That is very important. It should come from the heart ^.^

If you want to know the true Islam, yes you should study it well before you convert. It's more than saying a few words, it's a feeling in your heart that what you believe is true.

Before you become a Muslim most understand its background, and understand that the real covenant from God was with the Jews and not the Arabs :21. But my covenant will I establish with Isaac(father of the Jews)

This what God said about Ishmael the father of the Arabs(Muslims)11 The angel of the LORD also said to her:
"You are now with child
and you will have a son.
You shall name him Ishmael,
for the LORD has heard of your misery.

12 He will be a wild donkey of a man;
his hand will be against everyone
and everyone's hand against him,
and he will live in hostility
toward all his brothers."

and you see this everyday in the news and TV.

It is not obligatory in Islam to study alot, but it is encouraged. Scholarly pursuits can lead one closer to God. Ilsam encourages study. To be a Muslim though, one must simply state "La ilaha il Allah wa Muhammadu rasulu lah" or "There is not God but Allah and Muahhmad is his messenger" in English.

Not at all. But its always a good idea to study a lot before embracing any religious belief. Islam does, however, place great emphasis on education and understanding for everyone.

Arabia before Islam was more civilized and tolerance than after Islam. Islam used propaganda to describe pre-Islamic Arabia so it can justify it's risen The truth is that pre-Islamic Arabia had freedom of choice and diversification of culture and Islam mostly spread by sword.
