Gloves can lull you into a false sense of security. The reason being is that your supposed to change gloves AND wash your hands every time you change the food your working with. Doing this helps prevent the spread of food borne iillness via cross contamination.
If you don't change you gloves as often as you would normally wash your hands then their effectiveness is reduced and in fact can become a danger to the dining public.
In my kitchen I want to see people changing gloves often and washing their hands often
When I go shopping or out to eat i want to see hand washing stations , gloves available and gloves being changed.
So , No I don't feel any safer just because some guy has a pair of gloves on

No I do not trust because I have seen numerous people walk out of a public restroom without hand washing...it is gross! I think if you are handling food you should definitely wear gloves. I read an article about the recent e-coli outbreak in spinage. The article stated that the e-coli could be linked to handlers who picked the spinage after cleaning cow manure. If this is the case then gloves would have prevented several outbreaks.

No, but you very well cant demand them to wash their hands! They are supposed to wash though, but I know for a fact that a lot of people go to the bathroom and waltz right past the sinks to the exit. I think it's just plain nasty, weather your in the food business or not.
