I read what soemone else wrote, and they're right. People do get tired of giing to eery single cause.
What you could do is organize a car wash or other type of fundraising activity in your neighborhood. Make sure they know that you will use proceeds to prepare care packages for that particular unit. If you were to hae a car wash, let them choose between giing you money or a couple of items for a care package, like magazines, movies, portable dvd players, batteries, and especially baby wipes. My husband and his friends are in the ilitary and they love baby wipes. Good luck.

Maybe create a website or blog educating people on your son's unit and offering a place they can donate/send things. You can also try talking to friends/co-workers and seeing if they would be interested in chipping in so you could send something to the whole unit.

I got literally truckloads of stuff donated - I had a website.

I went to local stores and asked for donations. Schools are GREAT places to get letters and stuff.

Churches are as well.

You can ask donations to aid in the cost of the shipping...I was able to get the units themselves to take the shipments over.

I hate to tell you this but people get sick of "giving" for every organization and tragedy etc. The best way to support the unit is to have a positive attitude and spread the word to all those negative people out there. Send your son favorite items to share with his friends........don't try to be a fairy godmother.....just be mom.

Start at your workplace! Try talking to your boss and co-workers about starting a care package drive. Good Luck!

Cookies mom, mom did you hear me, send cookies.
It doesn't matter what you send, just send something (it's the love in the box that counts)
