If you are like my father, about 65 years! He smoked 40 a day all his life, and died at nearly 82.
Smoking does not cause cancer. But it is a strong contributory factor, if you are misfortunate enough to have developed all the other real, underlying reasons. The most important amongst these are toxins accumulated in the body, the breakdown of the immune system, lack of oxygenation, poor nutrition, but also your emotional state and Soul issues are involved.

It's could have happened, but who know's. People have gone years of smoking and not gotten lung cancer, but it's almost a proven fact that smoking causes it. The less you smoke the better. If you are worried about having cancer, you should go see a doctor and get checked to be safe.

My dad was just diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. He had smoked a pipe probably for 25 years. The doctor said that the cancer had grown over a period of years, slowly. Anymore, with the statistics the way they are, I would think it varies person to person, how much you smoke, if you are around several people who also smoke, what do you smoke? There are several risk factors that can determine the time you develop cancer.

Luck of the draw, many people get cancer without ever smoking, some people smoke for 50-60 years and never do. Smoking raises your risk for many kinds of cancer, but there is no timeline for when they may (or may not) happen.
Cancer, by the way, is only one of the problems that smoking can cause, it can also cause heart disease and emphysema, can contribute to infectious diseases, especially those of the respiratory tract (such as bronchitis and pneumonia) - and let's not forget that hacking smoker's cough.

it depends on the number of packs smoked per year. someone with a smoke pack year greater than 20, have a high chance of developing cancer. however, it also depends on your genetic dispostion to develop cancer, some people can smoke for their entire life and not develop cancer, that does not mean they well not suffer from other conditions and problems.

That is a unknown, and one should not take a chance but should try to quit smoking , the sooner, the better. Nicotine is an addictive substance that causes physical dependence, as is evidenced by withdrawals and relapses and overcoming the addiction can be extremely difficult. Given the high morbidity and mortality related to smoking, getting the smoker to quit is important.

It takes about 30 years for the cancer to develop. But it can start much sooner. Technically one cigarette can do it, or maybe you could be a non-smoker and get it form second hand smoke.

I know that I have a friend who died from lung cancer... she never smoked but lived in a house where both parents smoked. She was 24.
Smoking is bad.. stop now and decrease your chances.. smoking is like playing russian roulette.
My mom died of lung cancer. She smoked all her life... the cancer started in her lungs but moved to her brain and all her major organs and lymph system..she died painfully.
Please if you know someone who smokes or you are smoking.. Dont do it. it is really not a cool thing to do. It is disgusting

Depends on how much you smoke, and what you smoke. Some people burn PINE logs in their fire place and others BURN OAK Logs I do not know what causes cancer quicker per particulate ratio of the lung intake.
Some people burn plastic. Some burn EDTA others burn DPTA or what have you, some may just burn PHOSPHATE ..... there are many different things WHAT ABOUT AUTO EXHAUST?
