i'd ask friends / famly / co-workers if they would recommend anyone. if you feel uncomfortable asking them ... perhaps you could ask your primary care physican on your insurance plan.

if that is not an option ... sometimes just looking at your health plan booklet for names and calling the offices, asking information about how they run their practice .. if they have a speciality (some work better with families or adolescents, etc). then it's just a matter of meeting them and seeing if you click with them.

sometimes it takes meeting a few before you find the right doctor ... but don't settle .. you have to be 100% comfortable with that person or seeing them isn't going to be helpful.

good luck .. and take care.

Go to one you like to talk with. I've been to 3 psychiatrists and I liked 2 of them. For a while, I saw 1 and then I switched to the other. Both served a valuable purpose for me.

You can go online and check out psychiatrist in your area and their specialization. What is more helpful is if you know someone who is seeing a psychiatrist and who can give you a critique of how good the doctor is and if they have been helpful to them.

Aside from the answers you have already gotten, keep in mind that it is a highly individual choice and only you can tell if the relationship is working.
