Yep, thats true, its a shame how people want to take Christ out of every holdiay when he is the reason for the season. First they say, they dont want God and prayer in schools, but after 911, they're saying, "Pray for the USA, God bless America." Really in a time like this God is our only hope because we dont know what the terrorists are gonna do next. Why do people still reject Christ in a time like this with all these wars going on?

MAYBE BECAUSE THE FACT THAT THESE WARS ARE GOING ON POINTS AWAY FROM THERE BEING A CARING "GOD" FIGURE WATCHING OVER HUMAN KIND.
And lets look at supposed Christian celebrations
Xmas is simply the absorbtion of the ancient, pagan, tradition of celebrating Beltane.
Harvest Festivals, again the absorbtion of pagan festivals into teh christian church.
Easter ... yet again originally pagan, but stolen by christians

God should never have been taken out of the school systems nor any of the holidays. A lot of people think that Santa Clause stands for Christmas, but actually the history is that he chose Christmas as the one day a year to bring presents to the children in the memory of the gifts brought to Jesus in Bethleham. Even the candy cane was made in memory of Jesus, next will they be banned? I have no idea where the Easter Bunny comes in, if anyone knows, please enlighten me on this. Also, our currency even says "In God We Trust" are they gonna spend tax payers money to make new plates to remove it? America was built on the love and trust of our Lord and now it seems a person with no religion has more rights then those of us that do. It's like the old saying, The few can ruin it for the many! Very good subject, Thumbs up from me.

Being an American means freedom of religion or lack there of. Just because you want to pray doesn't mean everyone else wants to. If someone wants to use Santa or the Easter bunny in their holiday then that's their choice. Just because God is your only hope doesn't mean everyone has to follow your word for it. As for terrorist, even before 9/11 you didn't know what would happen any day. American's have done horrible things in this country also, some of them claming to be Christian. If you want to only have Christ in your holiday that's your business. If parents want prayer in school they should send their kids to a Christian school. There's no need to have anyones holiday or religion crammed down someone's throat.

I hear ya! I'm so sick of the way this country has been run into the ground. Why is it so acceptable for people to celebrate Halloween than to celebrate Christmas? This country was founded on Christian prinicples. The same principles that are being phased out. It's sad that this nation has come to this. One day they will know the truth, but unfortunately for them it could be too late by that time. All we can do is pray. I will stand up and fight and I WILL NOT be ashamed of Jesus Christ! God bless America!

Well, there's no proof that jesus died for anybody or that he rose again...and jesus never put presents under the tree for me or left me a basket full of goodies. So...while all three are equally mythical, I submit that both Santa and the easter bunny are much more practical, since even feigned belief in them has practical benefits, whereas even the most faithful belief in jesus brings absolutely no practical benefits.
And what does god have to do with terrorists? If god were real and gave a damn about us, 9/11 wouldn't have happened in the first place, and there wouldn't *be* any terrorists. That your god has done nothing to stop terrorist attacks shows that either he doesn't exist, or if he does he does nothing of any consequence on this planet...

But were you aware that all christian holidays are based on Pagan holidays. In fact, most of the christian holidays were put on the same days as the Pagan holidays so the people would attend the church services. Jesus, in fact, was actually born somewhere between October 8 and October 11, but the early church decided to make it December 25 because that is when the Pagans started their celebration for the gods that lasted the last five days of the year.

Because I simply choose not to believe in something that I cannot prove. I'm a strong person; I don't need to believe in an imaginary being to take all my problems away. Besides, I never could believe the whole heaven/hell thing. Just didn't make sense to me, and I like things that make sense. I had a hard time, on the job, watching people die, and it makes better sense to believe that it's just random bad luck, then some kind of divine plan.
And as far as the holidays goes, every single Christian holiday was initially a pagan holiday. I just prefer to celebrate my holidays without the whole Jesus thing.

Yes, but Jesus wasn't born on December 25 and his death probably wasn't clocked by the lunar cycle (like Easter)
Christian holidays are just piggybacking on pagan celebrations (While your doing that fire dance, why not worship our lord too?)
And some people might like to celebrate the holidays without the relgious overtones.

I think you should know that Santa and Easter Bunny aren't any more real than god or Jesus. Don't tell the kids though.
