My daughter is 7.5 months old and sounds about the same! When she was around your daughter's age, I used her Baby Einstein Discovery Center quite often. It's basically an ExerSaucer, one she can sit in with different activites all around her. She can spin around to what she wants to do.
Also, I used the Graco Jumpster. It has a spring-loaded clamp that fits over the top of a doorway, then she can jump to her heart's content. This kept her happy at least 20 min straight (now she's sadly outgrown it).
I still use her Pack-n-Play to confine her while I do things around the house, so I know she's safe. I give her a container of blocks, by Fisher Price, and she can occupy herself for a while. Toys with lights and sounds also seem to help.
Hope you find something your daughter can be occupied with!!

have your older daughter turn on her favorite cd and start dancing and singing for the baby...my 8 yr old daughter does that often for her 8 month old brother and he loves it and it lets me get things done around the house. Also...an exasaucer is awesome...i never needed it for my daughter when she was an infant but my son is very active and if he is not active, he is soooo fussy so i purchased one and it is a lifesaver for the 15 minutes he plays in it...also, a jumper for the doorway is excellent too, it's about $20-30 for it, the freestanding jumper is way more costly and takes up a lot of room......good luck

You are holding her up? Hello. Get a couple of baby fences and put her in a child safe room on the floor. She will move on her own and get tired.
I got my son used to the playpen from the time he was a few days old. It was a life saver. It contained him and I could do what needed to be done.

well the worst thing you can do is keep holding her. You need to put that baby down. Get a stationary walker, or a swing, or put her in a play pen. If you hold her all the time she will never learn to do baby things, like crawl, walk, and roll correctly. She might cry at first, but you need to get that baby off your hip!!! good luck!!

yeah, the exersaucer's are great, just try not to become to dependant on them...which can be easy to do lol
but playskool has alot of new toys out, they have the thing with the balls that they put in the holes, and they either come out of the dinosaur mouth, or down some steps and hey, if the balls get away, then they get to chase them around...
there's lots of things out there...and if worse comes to worse, just get a gate, and keep her in the room where you want her...although i don't really like gates, they make the kids look like animals...

Get a schedule, have her play her self to exhaustion at a predetermined hour, put her down for a nap (everyday at the same time) and use this time to yourself wisely.
It'll be a little hard at first, but if you are strict with sticking to it it will soon be routine and expected. The first week or two are the hardest, but stick with it and you'll be glad you did.

I'd invest in a playpen, or maybe a jolly jumper. As soon as they discover their mobility...you're doomed lol...my 16 month old is a one woman wrecking crew lol...in fact she's worse than both of my sons combined.

Get a harness so you can hold the cords while standing. This will reduce the pressure on your back.

my children loved the walker with the detachable tray toy. You might also try a "jumper".
