You know, I've often wondered that myself. I've never been called, but since I work for the county as a paramedic it's likell that I'd be disqualified first.

I'm not a criminal, and I'm a registered voter, and have never been picked for jury duty. At a local college I went to, people who've had all kinds of experience with "the law" had been on jury duty before...some of them...multiple times.

I think this county just don't like my flava.

Well, juries are pulled from the voter registration rolls, so if they're not registered to vote, they won't be called.

Other than that, it's just the luck of the draw. Different jurisdictions have different ways of selecting jurors, but in the age of computers, it should be reasonably random.

I wasn't called for the first twenty years I was registered to vote, but have been called three times in the past ten years. Go figure.

Ya it's probably a statistacal propabability. When some people don't vote very often they have a good chance of never being on a jury. Sometimes you show up and they don't even need you though. so you took the whole day off work for nothin then... wahaha.

I have been wondering that myself.

I watched alot of Court TV a few years ago, and was all excited about getting to sit in on a great trial... but ... nothing.

Sure, I'll get called up years from now, and it will be some stupid trial about property ownership or something like that.

It could also be that they keep detailed records on citizens, and they found out that I'm not a good participant in those sorts of things. I have no idea.

Hope they call you soon.

Hmmmm....I thought they were picked randomly from SSN's. I don't know why I thought that. Guess I was wrong. Oh well. I guess their name have never come up. I wish I would get called. I'd love to be on a jury.

I am not currently regsitered to vote, and I have been called. I don't even know how they found my new address. I did not yet renew my address with the DMV either. I am not running from them, just surprised they found me, since I moved a month ago.
I am called every 18 months in 6 years. *sigh* My husband, who is a native to this town, has been called ONCE!
I would like to know why, too!

There are exemptions from jury duty that vary from state to state.

For example.....cops and firemen are exempt but CAN serve if they want to in some states.

People with certain physical disabilities.....people with the care of minor children.....and members of volunteer first aid squads and fire departments are exempt in some states.

There are other exemptions too.....such as members of the military....students in college someone charged with caring for a senior citizen who needs care....and others, but as I said....they vary from state to state.

Oftentimes jurors are pulled from the voter rolls. If you aren't registered to vote, in some states at least, you won't get called.
