where in manhattan? manhattan is not a neighborhood. it is made up of many different neighborhoods. ie upper west side, midtown east, soho, etc...
it is expensive yes, but not impossible. a studio in any of the neighborhoods that i have stated above would run at least $2700.00 a month NOT including utilities.

It's mostly just the housing costs. Everything else is a little elevated, but not much.
The housing itself will kill you though.
ps: if you purchase, property taxes are also high - 10x higher than where I live. My wife's brother pays about $10,000 annually just for property tax.

yes n.y. is expensive everywhere i live in queens and my morgage is 1600 a month and thats cheeper than renting a studeo apt in manhattan can run 5000 a month and more even
