About 6 months. What all the people advocating spaying of very young puppies won't tell you is that when spayed very young/small you have a much greater chance of spay incontinence. If you don't want yours dribbling urine all over the house for the next 14 years, then wait until she is 6 months or so.

There is actually some debate about the ideal spay time. Some people claim that you should spay after the first heat when the dog is pretty close to fully mature. The theory is the spaying at 6 mo or younger is the equivalent of an ovo-hysterectomy on a preteen. The dog will have more problems later in life.

I'm not sure if I believe it. I've always spayed at 6 months because I didn't want to take the risk of an accidental pregnancy.

I would get it spayed right before their first heat unless you want to take the chance of her getting around a male dog and a accident happens. It will save you alot of problems just getting it done now earlier the better.
Also some vets charge you more if you take them in and they are in heat and you didnt know it. I know my vet did because of the extra blood and swelling I guess makes the operation a tad bit more difficult.

You have to wait til the dog is at least 4 months old. That's when we got Killian spayed. It's better before their first heat.

The earlier the better. I got our female spayed as soon as vet gave us the go ahead about 4 months.

before her first heat. my puppy got spayed at either seven or eight weeks- it saves a lot of trouble trying to keep the males away.

It's always better to do it before your pup's first heat, so before the age of 6months. They won't do it if she is in heat, if some do it while she's in heat, it's more expensive.
