Why do toasters always have a setting that burns the toast to a horrible crisp, which no decent human being would eat?

I often use the high setting if I butter the bread before I toast it.
Hey, I like it that way! and I usually use a sprayer to do the buttering so it is uniform.

That is a good question, I would guess for those who cook frozen toaster foods. Like the frozen danish for the toaster.

There is no accounting for taste and some people might like burnt toast. There obviously was a demand for it or they wouldn't have included it.

That is a good question. I never thought of before. I think it might have something to do with different types of bread. Some are more dense than others and therefore take longer than your guey white bread.

My cat LOVES burnt toast! I use that setting specifically for him.
