I totally have my seven year old convinced I can see what she's doing when I close my eyes. I told her that when she was three (she was very sneaky back then). I originally told her that mommies can see what their kids are doing when they close their eyes. Somehow, along the way she decided I can see whoever I want to see when I close my eyes. I have "proven" that I can do this on numerous occasions. When she was younger she asked me what her grandma was doing. I told her she was coming to our house. Within five minutes Grandma showed up. (Sure, Grandma had a habit of showing up on that day at that time, but a four-year old doesn't know that) Since then she has begged me to close my eyes and see things. Somehow my magical powers have morphed into being able to see the past, present and future.
i.e. "Mom, close your eyes and see me at lunch today, the boy with the green shirt is my boyfriend Travis"
"Mom, close your eyes and see if my friends will still be at their grandmas when we home."
"Mom, Close your eyes and see if Dad's home yet." (That one is always easy to answer correctly because I always call him before I pick her up)
If there's anything I am not positive about the answer on, I don't guess, I just tell her I want to surprise her.
Hey, she still believes it at 7 so I must be pretty good.
BTW- She has been very well behaved (even in my absence) in the 4 years she's thought I can see her at will.
Maybe they aren't eyes in the back of your head- But my kid things I can see her(and anything else I want to) at will.

When you are a parent your kids certainly believe that you do, and you wish it were true... But alas you only have the one set in front like everyonne else....
Now shhhhh I will tell you the real secret...
Parents appear to have more than one set of eyes and ears because kids telegraph thier intentions prior to carrying them out... Much like the 3 year old who gets the cookies and makes noise with the wrapper getting a cookie is foiled by the sound of the wrapper the older child is foiled by something in thier demeanor giving them away...
Oh and kids... for those of you who now think you know the secret, the joke is on you... trying to cover up the demeanor that was giving you away, is like putting a spotlight on the white elephant in the livingroom it only makes us look faster... We would have noticed the elephant anyways...
MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Figuratively speaking this is true. What happens when you become a parent is that you are extremely aware of your surroundings and the dangers around your child. Your senses and your instincts heighten. Not only that but you will find that your children will do things that you did and they will think they invented it. Like getting into your make-up and denying it when the evidence is on their face. Quick grab a camera. Then have a good laugh.

It's when kids are too quiet that sends a signal.
Cute story about the little girl who misbehaved and her mother made her stand in a closet.
For a short time whimpering came from the closet.
Then it stopped and for a long time not a sound. Finally the mother went to the closet and asked her what she was doing.
"I spit on your new shoes. And I spit on your new dress. And I spit on your fur coat."
"And now I'm waiting for more spit"!

Yup, it comes out at the child's first birthday.
But seriously, you are just more in tune with your kids, and know when they are up to no good. So that sense is the "third eye set" of parents.

Honestly, it's true - used to freak out my son all the time. He's almost 15 now, and we just talked about this recently. He called my powers "Mama magic". Cool, eh? What it is, is that you just get to know your child so well, you know what they are going to do before they do it!
