I have done this several times before when I was younger and my mother wouldn't let me dye my hair. I doesn't work better with lighter colored hair though. Red seems to stay in the longest.
Step 1: Take color you want then put it in a bowl.

Step 2: Add some hot water. I used several packages of Kool Aid and made a type of paste.

Step 3: Using a hair coloring brush (available at Sally's Hair Supplies) put the mixture of Kool-Aid and water into your hair

Step 4: Let stand for 30 minutes

Step 5: Rinse hair lightly yet thoroughly (Do not use shampoo or conditioner or any type of hair stuff for rinsing! Just water!)

You can stain your hair with Kool Aid. Don't use boiling water or you'll scald yourself! Make a paste with the powder and apply it like a highlighting kit - it will only work if your hair is really light naturally and it won't last long

Yes, you can actually do that. The color is temporary and will bleed on your clothes, but it does work, and you don't even have to boil water, just make a paste with the Kool Aid.
And no, it will not damage your hair at all.
Kool Aid is nothing but food color and flavor.

Hardly put any water at all. The stronger the dye, the better. It will only work well on blondes, the lighter the better.

It will never look professionally done, however, just sort of dull. It shrieks immature.
