Check into the Pell Grant and Catholic Charities College Fund.
There are many others out there too, go talk to a financial adviser at one of the colleges, that is what they are there for.
Pell Grant and Catholic Charities paid my way through college and gave me a check to live on too. There are many grants out there for single mothers.
College Libraries have grant books listing a multitude of grants you may be eligible for. Since you are not in college, you may not be able to check the books out, but take pen and paper and write down as many as you can find that you are eligible for.

Start by filling out the FAFSA. Call the financial aid office at the school you want to go to and ask them about this. Also, there are probably scholarships for people in your situation. People don't know this but you can get enough financial aid to get you all the way through school including money for living. Just be sure to pick a degree that will help you in a profession that you can make enough money to be happy on. I originally was a teacher and that was a big mistake. You get treated like dirt and paid very little. Go into the medical field. Become a registered nurse.

Start with the welfare department in the city where you live.
Ask your college advisor what type of financial programs are available to you for the school year.
Get an after school job. Baby sit on weekends.
K-mart and Wal-Mart are in most cities, as are Sears, Penny's and other retailers. A job is what will help you get by. Ask family, friends, and the father of your child, for extra financial assistance.
