124 is perfectly fine. At that age, everybody's weight varies. Some people are at 120 while others are at 100 or lower. It is perfectly normal

If she is 5'4" and weighs 124#, then her BMI is 22. According to the CDC growth charts, she is at the 85th percentile for her age which is considered "at risk for overweight." At this time her weight is fine. However, if she's still worried about her weight (or if she has larger parents and is worried that she may gain a lot of weight as she gets older), she can just focus on maintaining her current weight of 124 and as she grows taller, she will "slim down."
She doesn't need to go on a low calorie "diet" at her age since this might affect her growth. But, of course, eating healthy and getting enough physical activity are always a good idea at any weight/age.

This is Rody talking and Iam a male. I will agree to most of the answers already posted. First of all, how much fast food does she eat? What size dress?
Let me say this. My grandaughter won every beauty contest that she entered from the 6th grade until gruaduation. Her mothers family except one guy was so obese that one had by-pass surgery and came within a day of dying. He has a brother the same way. So apparently the "fat" gene" finally showed up in my grandaughter. She is 5' 6" tall, and I would guess her weight about 220, and maybe more. Beautiful still...Why did she let herself get into that shape? I think it is genetic, but if you don't eat you will not gain weight. Period! I blame her parents but it hurt her feelings when her mother would say anything about her weight. She got married right after high-school and finished nursing school. She did marry just to get away from things at home. Yes, she still loves everyone in her family, and she knows no strangers, a christian lady with a good future ahead of her. Her husband works with my son in the building trades, commercial buildings. My son is not the owner, but controls all building activites, and the bidding on commercial jobs.

I'm 30 (31 next Sunday), 5'2", 125..... wear a size 8... Looking good....
Tell your friend that she's hot- a weight of 124 is good for anyone between 5'2" and 5'8"... 'sides, she's only 12. She's still growing in height, and SHOULD grow in weight to match...
Here's a rule of thumb- 100 pounds for the first 5 feet of height + 5 pounds for eac additional inch, +/- 10 pounds for water retention, a big meal, bone structure, etc.

At 12 it's too soon to worry about weight since you haven't finished growing and maturing.124 is a healthy weight but encourage your friend to speak to her Doctor or the school nurse to be reassured by a professional.

don't be concerned about your weight at such a young age you have a life time to change it. your body changes you get taller and you even out. Don't look at the scale look at the figure. If you are overweight at like age 21 you should be concerned but not 12. Exercise daily, eat healthily, don't starve your self and you will be fine.

your friends are always going to go heavy about attitudes, enjoy the fun in it. everyone is committed to something. if you get to be the sounding board of other peoples questions you are going to have to know how to respond to their personalities, that's great for you and reassuring to your friends, try to see the best in everything and if you don't ask your friends what makes them feel that way so you get a handle on thinking weight control.she probably has her heart set on being your exercises buddy lucky u

How tall is she? What is her BMI (body mass index)... there are more things to the equation than just age and weight. Check all of them out first and then make a decision. Better yet, consult w/your doc!

That sounds like an average (weight) for a girl who is 12 and that tall...............She just needs to watch what she eats, like the rest of us............Teach her about carbs, and sugars..They can be bad if too much taken......Will get fat...........
