I am glad to hear that you are thinking about the Holy Spirit. The trinity - three in one (God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit) is a complex thing to understand. Holy Spirit is mentioned throughout the Bible, and it is very important to the Godhead. Jesus told his followers that when he left Earth that he would send a comforter to Earth to convict, encourage, and comfort. He was referring to the Holy Spirit. The way we know that the Holy Spirit is among us (like the Bible once again says) people will speak in tongues and will have the gifts of the spirit (prophesies, healing, and other intangible gifts). Not all churches teach about the Holy Spirit, but I encourage you to keep asking questions on issues like this.

The Holy Spirit is when you feel prompted to "do good works". The Holy Spirit helps you understand scriptures. Not quite clear about what part of that is "creepy".
Catholics refer to the Holy Spirit as "Fruits of the Spirit" and are good things that people do; there are 12: charity, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, generosity, gentleness, faithfulness, modesty, self-control, chastity.
I'm Christian, not Catholic; however, even searching Wikipedia can give you some info.
Good luck

Stupid Captain Douche....Wrong Gadfly
There is not one thing creepy about the Holy Spirit. It
is a gift God gave to any who become believers (in place
of His Son Jesus). It is wonderful to be indwelled with
something so Holy and so Wonderful that your life can
be a blessing all the days of your life with a helper who
can discern Bible passages for us, and help us be a
person who helps others, and keeps us from doing sinful
things. If you don't have this gift, you just don't know what
you're missing, my friend. I'll pray someday your eyes will
be open to the truth, and you too can accept this wonderful
gift of the Holy Spirit.

God is Love & the Holy Spirit is a member of the triune Godhead. The Holy Spirit is not at all creepy, though the name does bring to mind less friendly spirits connected with witches, seances, cults or portrayed in Hollywood horror movies. The Holy Spirit is actually found all through the bible. One does not have to go far in the bible to find mention of the Holy Spirit, Genesis 1:2 states, "And the earth was without form and void ; and darkness was upon the face of the deep : and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters" Reading on one discovers that the Holy Spirit was present at the creation of the earth and its inhabitants.
In addition to simply being called "the Holy Spirit" , this member of the Godhead is alluded to through a number of symbols. 1) A Dove "john bare record, saying, i saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him" (John 1:32)
2) Water "On the last day of the feast , the great day, Jesus stood up and procalimed, 'If anyone thirst, let him come to me and drink. He who believes in me, as the scripture has said, " Out of his heart shall flow rivers of living water." 'now this he said about the Spirit" (John 7:37-39)
3) Oil "Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps and went forth to meet the bridgroom. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps" (Mathew 25:1-4).
I could go on, the Holy Spirit is associated with many symbols in the bible, but so far nothing creepy. Actually quite the opposite. Shortly before his crucifixion, Jesus told his discipless about how the Holy Spirit would come to them after He was gone. John 14:16 states "And I will pray to the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you forever." This shows the great depth of our loving Heavenly Father. He is sepearated from mankind due to our sinful natures, He sends His own son to show us hislove and redeem us from sin & after Christ is crucified the Holy Spirit joins man in order to encourage and enable us and to keep our relationship with God strong.
This forum does not provide enough room to talk about all of the wonderful things that the bible has to say about the actions of the Holy Spirit. Rest assured that the Holy Spirit is a very real part of the one true God and it is essential for all mankind to accept this life-changing Spirit into their live's.

First, you must get all the air out of your head. The Holy Spirit is that little voice in your head, you call consience, that convicts you when you do something wrong, assuming you do know right from wrong.
