My son is 22 years old and he has Cerebral Palsy. He also has insomnia. His doctor created a bedtime routine for him that consist of a warm bath with Johnson&Johnson's bedtime bath then to be washed with Johnson&Johnson's bedtime cream wash. after that he must be massaged with Johnson&Johnson's bedtime baby lotion then change into a clean diaper and his pj's. He must then to rocked to sleep with a warm bottle of milk containing a generic sleeping aid. When the bottle is empty a pacifier must be placed in his mouth to ensure that he sleeps the entire night. It work but he cries without it and will not sleep at all.

22 years old and he has Cerebral Palsy. The age does not matter in this situation. If he wants a bottle, give it to him. There is nothing you can do to change it if he enjoys this. Having Cerebral Palsy will cause him to have a really low Mentality. I think If it works, then stick with it. Just be sure that teeth brushing is a mandatory thing that you work on. Having a bottle and Binky will cause tooth rot. I am glad to know there are excellent parents out there that care for there kids through thick and thin. I look up to you. Thank you.

Well I say if what you are doing works and you can do it every night.. continue doing it.. it sounds as if you are saying that it is working. but you might want to get some help with it as you may wear out one of these days.. different people doing this for him will make it easier for you to take some time to get away for a little bit and get some rest yourself. we all need time away even from healthy kids.
So find someone you trust show them the routine that you go through watch them do it so you are sure that they can do it properly and that he will also sleep for them then take a couple days rest or atleast one day a week off.
wish you the best of luck there. sounds like you have your hands full and are doiing your best to take care of him and make him feel good and comfortable.

God bless you for keeping your son even though it is clearly not easy. I admire you. my 19 year old brother also has cerebral palsy, and I can relate to your question. sometimes our situations cannot be compared to those of others. the only reason this situation wouldn't be ok is if it drained you too much. if you can handle it, more power to you, but if you don't want to somedays, perhaps you should seek a second opinion. your situation won't get any easier, so just be sure you aren't worn too thin...good luck

If you've tried it and it works good for you. J&J bedtime bath and bedtime massage wash is great and it smells wonderful. You could always try a few drops of lavender essential oil in his room too as it helps relax and helps sleep.

Good Luck. Xx

I would think you and your doctor know him best and can, between the two of you, decide what is needed.

If his mental capacity is suited to this then go for it. The best thing for him is quality of life, if this is what makes him happy then I see no reason why it shouldn't be done.

For some, it is the simpilar things in life that make them happy. I can't think of anything more basic than comfort. Take care of him, make him happy, make him comfortable.

Good luck.

If you were naturally a loving parent, you wouldn't be asking such a thing. If I had an older child still in diapers, or drinking from a baby's bottle, I wouldn't be broadcasting it. That's your flesh and blood and any loving and dedicated parent will do everything and anything it takes to ensure their child (baby) is taken care of.

Who gives a damn about what any doctor says, if you want to rock him, then do it. It's really no big deal.

is it okay. I say yes as you know its very tough for him. what ever gives him a little peace and serenity do it. He's your baby . What you do in your house is your business.

But thats your son and it gives him security and he feels safe and secure. So dont' stop doing it cause you think its not the norm. there is no rule book. You know your son and your son knows what comforts him.

I wouldn't complain if I got that treatment every evening.

You have to do what's best for your kids and it obviously works so why not.

I'm not sure what the question is, but I'm sure whatever the doctor says is great!
