Sorry about your son's misfortune, but here's what my mother did when I had my teeth wired together for a month.

She bought a blender and I had some wonderful gourmet stuff, all blended into liquid. I had turnips & onions, chicken & dumplings, and I don't remember what else. But it was delicious and the taste was not altered.

Good Luck

PS. I drank it thru a straw.

Get a blender and put everything into it. Did you know you can eat stew through a straw? Both my cousin and my grandfather had to do this for the same reason. It's not pleasant but it's better than going hungry.

Smoothies made with protein powder, frozen berries, milk and ice cream or yogurt. Put it all together in a blender and give it to him with a straw. You could also try tiny mouthfuls of mashed potatoes and gravy.
Good luck. I hope he mends soon.

This might sound really old fash. but cream of wheat is great for such things. To get a 17 yr. old to eat it though you might have to doctor it up.....a little sugar...maybe some milk. What I ate for an entire week after oral surgery.

He actually and factually have anything he wants, you just have to grind it up in the blender first. I had some teeth pulled and couldn't eat, so my Mom put spaghetti in the blender, it was mush but filling and tasted EXACTLY the same
