this is my MIL's recipe. I make it with apples, peaches, or cherries.

3/4 c Bisquick
3/4 c oatmeal (NOT instant)
3/4 c brown sugar
3/4 stick butter
1 t. salt
1 t. cinnamon
1/2 t. ground cloves
1/4 t. nutmeg

4 c. sliced apples or other fruit (fresh, canned, or frozen. Thaw it if it's frozen)
1 t. vanilla
3 T. tapioca

Put the fruit in a 9x13 inch baking dish and sprinkle with tapioca. If it's canned fruit in syrup you don't need to add sugar. If it's fresh fruit, toss it first in about 1/2 c. white sugar. Stir the tapioca in so it's mixed evenly with the fruit.

Mix the topping ingredients together with a fork until they are crumbly, kind of like granola.

Sprinkle the topping ingredients evenly over the fruit and bake at 350 for 1/2 hour. Serve with cream, ice cream, or vanilla yogurt.

For a richer dessert, melt 1/2 stick of butter and add it to the fruit before you put the topping on.

Edited to add: best served warm.
