The troops will be out of Iraq Within 18 months and they should stay to finish the job.
In regards to Afghanistan we shouldn't be there.
We have no laid down mission from the politicians so the troops are sitting ducks.
give them a mission or get them out.
We dont want to be like the Russians.

They are Killed doing the Job that they are trained to do, They are Killed protecting the freedom of me and you and they are killed doing what they believe is right.

They haven't done enough yet as the Taliban(Afghanistan) are still finding time to regroup & Al qaeda in Iraq and various other groups are still terrorising innocent people.
To get rid of the terrarists you must fight fire with fire.
If the Soldiers wernt there these Rats that are known as terrorists would have freedom to do as they please.
They would be building training camps, Corrupting the Youth(Even more than the already do), Export Heroin(Afghanistan) to produce income and On the whole brain wash people into attacking the free world.

This surley cant be good.

Fair enough the soldiers on the ground could do with more support wether its more troops or more logistics.
I feel it is not time to bring them home while there Job out there is not finished and Im pretty sure 90% of service personel feel the same.

I understand totally how you feel, as I feel the same.. But the differance between you and I is I know how important it is to keep security in already Voatile regions.

Pray for our Soldiers that they come home safely at the end of this, However long it may take.

i can tell this question comes from the other side of the pond, but the answer is the same because blair and bush think basically the same on this matter.
let me ask you this...why would we leave, when the job isnt finished yet?
its not over yet. the troops will come home, when the new iraqi government can function, and protect itself. this is a country that had been under the controll of a dictator for many years, they arent going to go from that, to a democracy over night.
also! about the "too many innocent soldiers are being killed"
THIS IS WAR. people die in a war. its sad, but it happens. the brave men and women in the armed forces are giving their lives for their country, whether they believe in the cause or not.

i have no response for the fucker who made the bush comment either.. that just shows how ignorant people are.

We do not have the troops and equipment to conquer, pacify, and occupy Iraq, nor would our allies stand by and let us do it. The problem is, building a Western style Nation in the Middle East, the supposed goal, is not achievable any other way. The Iraqis do not want to replace their culture with a copy of ours, they are an ancient and cultured people, with a heritage of which they are rightfully proud. One of the things we most need to overcome is an ever increasing perception that we don't respect or care about what they want to do with their own land and natural resources, and we don't seem to be even trying to do that. We need to make up our minds, do we crush them and rebuild to our liking, in which case we need to increase our numbers by a factor of ten, at least, or do we let them do as they please, in which case we should pull out completely. It's the half measures that are so waste full, both of money and of lives.

I want to say yes but I see why they don't.... How can we go into a country claiming to help it and promise to help get it back on it's feet, to then up and leave it in a much worse state then it was to begin with, with no law and order and no proper governing body... unfortunately we must finish what we started, although it is something that should never been started in the first place...God bless all those who are out there now and believe that in the end good will come out of all your hard work.....

As an American my answer will fit for both Brit and US troops.
Absolutely not. It would be a disrespectful thing to do to the killed/wounded and their families. Not to mention the ones fighting now.

YOU DO NOT CUT & RUN. This is not an American saying alone. British troops I am sure would tell you the same thing. They need to know their contrymen are behind them. Hell they know the political parties in their country will always fight each other on these subjects.

Soldiers by the very definition are not innocent bystanders they are trained to do two things, kill and destroy. Nation building comes after victory.

The army leaders have been asking for alot more back-up and now since pres of Iran has loaded terrorists with a whole new grip of weaponry they really do need help to get anywhere. It's bad enough to be on strange grounds with terrorists lurking everywhere so let's get some back-up for our troops and are we still looking for bin Laden? God bless our troops & allies.

Sadly that is not an option.
Our govt helped to create this mess and we now have to stick it out to the bitter end.
Every person in the military knows that when they sign on the dotted line, their life is no longer their own and that they could be sent anywhere to fight.
That is their job. It's what they train for.
What annoys me is that they are under-equipped.If,as a Prime Minister, you are going to send someone to fight for you and possibly die for you the least you can do is to make sure they have the right tools to do the job.

If we pull out of Afghanistan who will hunt down Al Qaeda if we pull out, we are Alli's with America, you can't pick and choose your fights, we are either Alli's or we aren't. It works both ways, if we had been attacked then the US would have been fighting alongside us.

It's no good laying it at Tony Blaire's feet, The Conservatives would have done the same thing, it was an all party agreement that committed our forces not one man.

On the other hand i am all for pulling out of Iraq. The war there has been officially over for a long time, we have helped them reinstate an elected government, SO WHY THE HELL ARE WE STILL THERE? Its time to let them get on with it, if the government is deposed then it is the will of the people who live there. Its nothing to do with us anymore and we should STOP MEDDLING

oh sure. let's let the UN take care of it right?

We are doing what needs to be done. Period. Too bad so many of you don't get it. The majority of the soldiers that I've spoken to say we need to be there.

Why don't you try talking with a great many of them before you make more statements like that?
