Is there anything that I can do without scaring or hurting her?

Zeke, my furry feline used to do the exact same thing. I sought the advice of a trusting vet and was told to lightly spray him on the back side with a water bottle when he became too stimulated. It worked......and only after a few times. But you do not want to squirt a steady stream at them and you do not want to spray them in the face. And dont chase after them to spray. Thats where traumatizing the poor thing comes into play.

Okay, my tonkinese cat does this too, especially when she wants my attention.

I purchased a book called "Your Outta Control Cat". The author suggests grabbing the cat firmly and saying "NO" until they understand it isn't acceptable behavior. You need to be consistent however to avoid confusing the cat and making the problem worse.

Another strategy was to make a hissing sound. I've been doing this and when I do, she backs off.

I think it will take a while longer, but she's starting to get the hint that I don't find this form of attention getting and play as pleasurable, and yet I don't hurt her either.

You have to teach her to play without biting. Honestly, you won't hurt her by giving her a sharp tap on the nose when she bites. Done over and over, she'll always come back to play, but will learn to not bite - except playfully.

Well my kitten did that for years. It started out playfully and progressed into actually stalking me. He would wait until I wasn't looking and lunge onto my lower leg cocking his head so he could grab onto my calf as though he were biting a chicken leg! It was horribly painful and just trying to shake him off never worked. He held on tightly. Water bottles didn't work, he seemed to like it. I usually just ran. I was scratched and scarred. I used to have to put oven mitts on if I needed to handle him. Seriously!
Although he sounds evil he had lots of personality and I loved him. He eventually grew out of it. But don't think I didn't think about getting his teeth pulled out when I had him declawed.

When she bites, take her by the scruff of her neck GENTLEY and tell her "NO" in a firm voice.
She is playing but needs to know the boundaries.

One of my older cats wraps his front legs around my arm when he is cuddling and sniggling and gives me gentle love bites. He knows how hard is acceptable. He doesnt even dent the skin.

Wipe a little Tabasco sauce on that area and when your cat bites some will get in its mouth and it will learn not to bite or play like that. It doesn't hurt the cat, just teaches it.

That is just a kittens way of showing affection. I went to the thrift store and bought a small teddy bear and gave it to my kitten and he stopped doing the same thing yours is.
Now he plays with the teddy, and sleeps on my lap purring.

Time for kitty burgers tonight!
That's how the Koreans deal with this situation.
If you don't like to eat cat meat, then an M-80 in the cats butt will do the trick.

If the kitten is playing and you don't mind then maybe biting it back might show your superiority, if it learns that you are stronger it will respect you and keep its distance or at least not bite you as hard.

Use a bottle of water and squirt it on her back. DO NOT squirt at her face. Give her something else to play with but still give her plenty of attention.
