The culture of China dates back to about 6,000 years, excluding the Beijing man that lived from 60,000 to about 200,000 years ago. The more modern history of China begins with the Qin Emperor that first united the various fiefdoms about 4,000 years ago, and continued up to the last emperor Pu Yi. Each Dynasty produced several emperors and some were good and some were bad. The most notorious Empress was XiXi, or Old Buddha. She has not the 'tai-tai'...chief wife but she produced a male heir, and it is believed she poisoned the emperor and became co-regent with number one wife...then it is said she poisoned off her own son to become the Empress of all of China...also called the Middle Kingdom.
