I agree that Eid should be a day off. That would be ok. Then again, Yom Kippur isn't a day off where I live. I just had to miss. It was excused though.

Well Ramadan is over a month so no. Even in Islamic countries, students attend school while fasting, as your suppose to do all your normal work. The day after Ramadan is Eid, that should be a holiday.

no, ur supposed to go about ur normal routine during Ramadaan, which is a month long, not one day. Eid should be a day off (or few days), but it usually isnt in non-Muslim countries.
i usually just take a day's annual leave for eid. we only have the usual christian holidays here, so anything else is on ur own acct. There are many Muslims in my city and my company, so it has never been a problem.
Schools here with a significant number of Muslims either close for the day, or the non-Muslims come to school but dont have proper classes.

Ramadan isint just one day though thats probably why its not a day off school its like pretty much a month long thing...

Religious holidays are always excused absences for students....so yes. I don't think it should be a system wide day off, no, but it should remain an excused absence for those who are absent for that reason.
