I was wondering if there are any witchs/wiccan/pagan parents out there. Are you very open with your children about everything? I am 36 weeks pregnant and very worried about the future. I have a house beside my parents who are needless to say super christians. They dont know of my beliefs and I dont want them to. We have a great relationship right now and if they were to find out then it would destroy everything. Its not worth it. How would I go about teaching my son and being active in this position. We live in an extreamly small community and my parents know pretty much everyone, so it makes it even harder. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

There are a lot of opinionated people on here when it comes to religion. I know its a tough spot to be in, especially if you are so close to your parents. I would slowly ease it on my parents if I were you. You have a couple of years to work with them but I think it will work out for you. Dont listen to people being so mean. They are the first ones to say they are so understanding but when you ask a question about religion..they are the first ones to tell you how wrong you are.

You can teach your child about the the morals and value system that your religion believes in without mention of any religion at all. I personally beleive in reincarnation, but this is a tough subject for adults to understand let alone children, so I teach them the basic principles. My children go to a christian church too. I want them to be able to gather all info when they are older and make the decision for themselves. Faith is a very personal choice. I wish that your parents agreed with me, but since they don't, I would not tell them. Have a discussion with them about the values that you want to raise your child with and hopefully they will agree. All religions have the same basic principal. To live your life to help others and yo try every day to be the best person that you can be.

I don't know anything about witch craft or any of that but it's hard to decided what to teach your child and what not to teach a child. Although you have a great relationship with your parents it's up to you to teach your child what you want your child to know. Your parents aren't going to be the one to raise this child you are so your choices and your opinon no matter how other people feel about it as long as it's not harmful to your child should be okay.

If you are proud of your beliefs, you should be more than happy to share them with everyone - family, friends, and the community in general. There would be something sinister otherwise. How can you raise children if you are not totally pleased and open with the beliefs you have?

Never use the words pagan/wiccan around your kids.

You can teach them to love and respect duality (male/female) in everything.

You can teach them to take care of nature, without it being stated flat out that it's a religion.

You can teach morals/values without it being a religious aspect.

You can buy a book of mythology for kids and read it to them at bedtime as a story, but it's really about all the gods/goddesses that a wiccan would believe in.

They won't learn not to tell all of your secrets until they are around 14 or so and it's iffy then. So it's really up to you.

If you believe then be strong and stand up for your self.

Teach your son what you believe and your parents will also be teaching their beliefs to him by being with him. As he gets older he will choose, just like you have.

My advice is to give up a belief that you are ashamed of, that you don't want people to know about.
