Not sure I'd call it "demonic" but I'm highly against religions or individuals that attack in any form persons who have opted to follow an alternate belief system. It's okay to express one's opinion and religious preference, but when it comes down to using violence or abuse to blatantly undermine an individual's right to engage in his or her personal choice of worship, this is completely unacceptable.

Yes, it does tend to do that. A person standing on a street corner trying to tell people what they should and shouldn't do can be easily ignored. A person saying that a god told him to tell people what they should and shouldn't do has more of an air of authority. Once a religion is organized, the leaders gain much power and sometimes wealth. Because the leaders ultimately have nobody they really need to answer to, they tend to become very totalitarian.
Also, humans naturally form groups. We're gregarious animals. We tend to show compassion for those in the groups and enmity to those outside the groups. Religion excentuates these emotions by telling its members that those inside the group are Heaven-bound and those outside the group are evil.
Politicians have also discovered that religions are a way of getting whole voting blocks to back them.
Taken together, all of this causes religions to have very bad consequences at various periods of time.

All religions suffer this same problem, they are systems of belief that are created by men who think they have conquered the mysteries of God's will. I don't follow any religion, I follow Christ. When you are following, you can never be equal to or have full knowledge of the Lord, it is impossible. Muslims follow a man who was a pedophile, rapist, murderer and a drug addict.

I think every person finds her own truth. I don't really think that any religion is "the one". I think they all have some truth to them and that they each exist so that individuals can find the one that works best for them. Just my opinion, of course.

The original Christians were saying the same thing about other religions, such as Judaism, and pagan faiths.

Then what do you say about Jesus? He said "I am the way the truth and the life and no man can come unto the Father but by me" Was he a madman or was he who he said he was? I'm staking my future on the latter.
