consult with a dermatologist, because it might not actually be dandruff.

Your boyfriend need to be using a shampoo that is desgined to treat and control damdruff now he may have to try different brands before he finds one that works best for him. It takes about 2 weeks to see any changes but he must use it correctly make sure he reads the instructions and flowes them exactly otherwise the product will not work. Once he starts using the shampoo he will need to use it everytime he wahses his hair unfortnally dandruff is a condition that never fully goes away it has to be treated all the time. As for his skin I recommed that he purchase a cream not a lotion made for extra dry skin he is to use it at least twice a day and only after properly clensing the face preferably morning and before bedtime. He should never wash his face with soap, never with anything sented or with just water he needs to use a face cleanser non sented that contains a moisturizer and is made for dry to extra dry skin. Just like the shampoo he will need to use this all the time not use it untill the problem goes away and stop because ot will just come back, also this is not something that will ever go compeltely away he will always have dandruff and he will always have dry skin however by doing the things I have listed he will be able to keep it under control. Should he not see a difference after 2 weeks I recommend that he go to his doctors and he or she will be able to assist him further and possible referr him to a dermatologists.

It may not be dandruff but just dry skin. Tell him to drink a lot of water , eat better foods, shampoo less frequently, and use a less stringent face soap.

I'm sure it has a name, and may be associated with something more serious, but THAT part can be solved by using shampoo with Selenium. Use it on the head and other skin areas, too.
As someone below says, that condition IS often associated with HIV.

For his hair he may need medicated shampoo or go to the store and get this shampoo called T-GEL by NEUTROGENA its strong like medicated w/o going to the doctor. Wash hair with that at least twice a week.
Skin- He may need to drink more water. you never know what eight glasses can do. your body needs it. and try using NEAVA body lotion or EUCERIAN lotion.
another thing if he uses W##D then this can also dry his skin out terribly!!!

when you see him, say,
hey, my b/f do you know you have really bad dandruff, and your scalp is dry, as well as your face.... oh by the way you're black but basically it looks like really bad dry skin.
that way he knows, and just might do something about it.... after he's laughed at you.... or dumped you.... hey there ya go... no more problem.

Sounds like he needs to see his doctor for some special shampoo. It could be seborrhea or psoriasis. That causes flaky and scaling of the skin

get him a boys moistureiser or if you cant find one put it in his after shave and for his head take head and shoulders and put it in his shampoo. here is some personal advice: if your a good person and you love him for who he is then you won't care how he looks, im not saying you should tell him that he should give up his personal appearance though but you'll know what to do. gudd luck :)

Sounds like psoriasis. That can usually be helped by using a cortisone cream.
