I was a valedictorian type, in high school, and I set high standards for me, declaring that I would pursue a knowledge base, in English literature. They soon depleted my self-confidence, and I fell into a state of Major Depression and my goal seemed impossible to achieve. I left the university a drop out. I did pursue a module of study in the arts, which rounded out my initial pursuit. After several more years, I pursued additional schooling at the community college level. Transfer credits for what I had done in the university were available to me, and the college awarded me a college diploma. Ought I to be satisfied that I made some headway toward my initial goal, and be happy with myself at that? Is it acceptable to see myself in terms other than of being a drop out, and instead a competent college graduate? My interests in such things as rock music and cyberspace and some counterculture-interests give me a "rebellious drop out" persona. How valid is this?

Hi hun! I'm sorry that you are depressed. You sound so negative toward yourself. You need to get over the fact that things didn't work out for you in college. At least you gave it a try. University are very tuff on their students. I went to regular community college and it was tuff, I could't imagine how hard a univesity would be. I'm sorry that people are putting a lable on you. That is not right for them to judge you, only God can do that. So just blow them off, geezeee people. I'm glad you have made head way toward your goal. Just don't give up ok. You make your life what it is. Always think positive! Be happy for who you are now not who you were in the past. Going forward and living is the key ok. Take care! Hugs! Von

I think that you did not go through a rebellious phase in high school and perhaps you had a delayed one.
Ok I gotta ask you this hon...are you doing what you feel you have a talent and a passion for in life now? I myself was not much of a valedictorian type in high school and was so deeply depressed, I wound up just squeaking by at graduation (this is from someone who went into high school rated as a high plus in science)
Right now I am reevaluating what I wanna do with the rest of my life. How can you use your interests to do something that will bring you joy in life? You may have landed where you are for a reason...you just gotta find it...good luck!

ok, i'm not sure if you are wanting people to feel sorry for you or what because i don't. why don't you sit down and think of all the other problems in the world that people face every day. homelessness, finding a place for at least your children to sleep, cancer, disease, and so on. at least you have a college degree. consider yourself lucky that you have that and stop wining.

Try keeping a journal. Just write about your day, decribe your day, your feelings, the people you encounter and how you feel about them. The more you write, the more practice you will get!
