It's not selfish to ask God for help for your everyday life. His word tells us in ALL things, to seek Him. Just ask that He would bless you financially and give you favor with those who repair your car, that you will get this done with a minimum of expense and trouble.
God cares about everything to do with your life.

All of the turmoil in the world including soldiers overseas hoping to come home to their families and you're praying for car repairs? I don't know your situation. I don't doubt that being without a car would be a hardship. But honestly, isn't there anything more that you could do to help yourself without taking God's attention from situations where He is needed most?

Pray that God will provide for your needs. Yes, I suppose in a way it's selfish. But then, wouldn't everything we pray for be selfish under the microscope?
Don't pray for a new Mercedes, just pray that your needs will be met.
We should do that every day, anyway. God knows what we need, but He likes for us to ask Him and acknowledge that only He can provide.

You can do two things. First of all, what is it that you REALLY need? Transportation to your job so you can continue to support your family? When you get to the heart of the reason, it is sometimes less selfish than one might think. Second, pray for the needs of others first and then ask for what you need last, remembering that while you do have a legitimate need, others might have greater needs.
I personally don't believe that God "fixes" things for us down here, but if I ask for the strength, courage, imagination to solve my problems, God will give me that little "boost" I need.

Any prayer is a good prayer. Nothing is selfish unless it is to gain something not deserved. Prayer is nothing more than conversing with God. Just remember to pray according to the Lord's prayer. Thank him, praise him, pray for others and ask for what you need. There's nothing wrong at all about praying for your car. It's a need.

What is the purpose you put your car to? Does it serve God's Purposes or yours? Is it really your car, or are you simply a steward taking care of God's property? Answer these questions and you will have your answer.

Just consult a Chilton's manual - the Bible for car repair, and you'll be okay. You can buy one at places like Pep Boys, for example - they are written specifically by model and year.

I'm sorry, but no amount of prayers are going to get your car fixed. You actually have to get off your a s s and do something to earn the money it takes to get it fixed, just like everyone else.
