Is there anyone who
Ever remembers changing their mind from
The paint on a sign?
Is there anyone who really recalls
Ever breaking rank at all
For something someone yelled real loud one time

Everyone believes
In how they think it ought to be
Everyone believes
And they're not going easily

Belief is a beautiful armor
But makes for the heaviest sword
Like punching under water
You never can hit who you're trying for

Some need the exhibition
And some have to know they tried
It's the chemical weapon
For the war that's raging on inside

Everyone believes
From emptiness to everything
Everyone believes
And no one's going quietly

We're never gonna win the world
We're never gonna stop the war
We're never gonna beat this
If belief is what we're fighting for

What puts a hundred thousand children in the sand?
Belief can.
Belief can.
What puts the folded flag inside his mother's hand?
Belief can.
Belief can.

Basically saying, a war about beliefs can never really be won because neither will back down so it's useless fighting. Each one has their own beliefs and we should just respect them for it. That's the only way we can have a semblance of peace.

More specifically, A young man decides to recruit for the armed forces because he believes he's doing something great. He gos to war and his mother losses him as a casualty of war.

I think the moral is to understand that our beliefs are not as practical as our own observations. Our beliefs are stubborn and without foresight. He also sings "Hold onto whatever you find, Hold on to whatever will get you through" on another song. What you "find" is what you experience. Therefore, Hold onto you're experiences (and what you learn from them).

I think Continuum is in a class by itself compared to other recent pop/rock albums.
