It never amazes me when people waltz into the store and claim that Science Diet is the best food in the world. All it takes is ONE LOOK at the ingredients label to find that most commercial food is DISGUSTING! If you feed a common commercial brand such as Pedigree, Eukanuba, Science Diet, Iams, ect. look at the ingredients label and answer me WHY would you fee that to your natrually carniverous dog? Get a clue people!

Check the label on your bags
First ingredient on any science diet bag is either a by product, or CORN! READ THE LABEL!
Eukanuba is known to put a "preservative" Ethoxyquin which is used to make rubber tires and can cause cancer in the food.
BHA and BHT are both carcinogenic preservatives in many pet foods and treats too.
Raw diet IS good for your dog! It is NOT just raw meat if fed correctly. There is also some (raw)fresh vegetables in the diet too. Dogs are naturally carniverous, why feed them corn, and peanut hulls (primary source of protein in science diet)?

You know, i understand what you are trying to say, however, you have to look at it from different points of view. Not everyone can afford the higher quality dog foods. Not everyone can afford the raw diets either. There are many good dog owners that simply don't make enought to purchase the best quality food. Granted, Eukanuba, Science Diet and Iams are nto the best foods in the world but they definately not the worst ones out there either. Compared to many foods, these three are pretty good. Compared to the top quality ones, they could be better. I know from experience when i say not everyone can afford the best foods. When i was younger, i had a dog that i loved with all my heart and i wish i could have afforded the expenisve stuff but at the time i had to worry about my family as well. As i got older and got better jobs with better pay i purchased better quality dog food. In time i made it up to where i could afford the the fancy meals. I find it very narrow minded how some owners see it as their mission to tell the world they are wrong because they assume everyone can afford what they can. Also, realize that not everyone has the oppertunity to sit down infront of a computer and look up what is in dog food and what is better and not. Don't judge people because they do not know any better either. Instead of being a jerk about what you know, why don't you try and explaining your knowledge with candor and tact.

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU...... I AM GLAD I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT FEELS THIS WAY. 90 percent OF THE TIME I FEED THE RAW DIET, BUT WHEN MY KIDS HAVE TO FEED MY DOGS THEY GET INNOVA EVO.Here is another website that will open a persons eyes on petfoods http://www.raw4dogs.com/kibble-truth.htm
Another source of meat that isn't mentioned on pet food labels is pet byproducts, the bodies of dogs and cats.
Alot of people will argue the fact that there is not rendered dogs and cats in dog food but the reason for the argument is people do not want to believe their dog can be eating someone elses fido.
Someone asked what is wrong with science diet, it is a overpriced crap dog food is what it is, the only reason vets recommend this dog food is because they get a 40 percent profit on what they sell. The industry has misled thousands of dog owners into believing their products constitute a healthy, natural dog food diet when in reality, this is anything but the truth. Next time you’re in the store, even a vet's office, pick up a bag of dog food and investigate the ingredients (Purina, Alpo, Science Diet...ANY bag of food). What these big name, highly recognizable brands are really selling is nothing more than a variable mixture of foul meat byproducts, cheap grains, fillers, pesticides, preservatives, chemicals, and toxins.
People are going to believe what they want to believe about commercial petfoods, but from experience of my dads dog dying from contaminated dog food i will not trust to feed the crap to my dogs anymore.

my puppy used to have a combination of dry iams dog food and pedigree wet food with one raw egg for the shine of her coat and some cottage cheese(good for them, especially when upset tummy and they wont eat anything else). Whenever we had chicken or some meat product around we would dice up a bit in her food. Unfortunately she ended up getting a blockage in her stomach, doesnt seem to be due to the food she was being fed but a plant that we had in the yard that she kept eating and it tore up her stomach. Now she is on a diet of Eukanuba dry and wet food and slowing being weening onto some iams dry and wet food again. She seems very happy on her Eukanuba food.

I feed my dogs Innova EVO or Timberwolf organics. I choose not to feed them any food that is loaded with grains as I don't believe any wild dogs would go out into a corn or rice field and want to chow down on any of that stuff.........hehehe. Plus I have one dog that is allergic to the artificial perservatives and one that's allergic to beef and one that is allergic to most grains so I have to find a food that all 3 of them can eat because I'm not going to go out and buy 3 different kinds.

My dogs eat IAMS and a combination of ground beef, carrots, green beans and rice with a touch of garlic. They eat once a day, about half and half...the amount depends on their size (very large to small). They get plenty of fresh water and treats (dog biscuits) when I get home from work.

Science Diet IS a good brand!! I hope you aren't trying to promote a Raw Food Diet. THAT is NOT good for animals, despite what you've read. What is wrong with Science Diet anyway?? The 1st ingredient is chicken, NOT corn!

IAMS and Royal Canin (I have 3 picky dogs) but I supplement with a BARF diet as well. (For those who dont know the word BARF is an acronym for Biologically Appropriate Raw Food.)
