They actually help. I have callouses on the first three fingers of both of my hands from doing chaimail. I use lotion, but they will only go away if you stop doing what made them form in the first place. They will eventually harden, and they will be less noticeable, but the only way to get rid of them for good, is to stop playing the guitar. Just use lotion to keep them soft. That is the only advice anyone can give you. I use cocoa butter for mine, but they are there to protect your fingers. That is why they formed in the first place. Your fingers got damaged, and the callouses formed to help heal and to keep them from getting damaged more.

stop playing guitar? Could be worse...sax players get these hot caloses on our bottom lips as well as our fingertips and sides hands and thumbs. Thats always fun.. At least at the parties you can hold a lighter to them and say hah...you cant do this!

You can remove them by moisterizing and other methods, but if you dont use anything else beside your fingers to play the guitar, they will always come back.

omg, if you play guitar, you're supposed to have callouses. the callouses protect your fingers from injury and pain.
