well, it happened twice on the way home just now. i was sitting at a red light and i had my a/c on. when the light turned green, i gently pushed on the gas and my engine shut off. i had to put my car in park and start it again. i figured, that my a/c could have been the cause. so, i turned my a/c off and kept driving. as soon as i pull into my aptartment complex, my engine shuts off again. and i have to start it again.

so what's the problem?! i have no clue!

i know it's not my battery, b/c that's what i thought it was. so i got a new battery. but, it's still happening. i think it might be my alternator. or maybe my engine is just old? my mileage is less than 112,000

my model is an altima. 1998. to be exact. and no, there is no engine light on, otherwise i would've taken it to a lube & tube place to get it checked out.

i take good care of my car. i got my car when i was 17 and i still have it in good shape.

probably needs a tuneup, i.e. plugs, wires, etc.

Sounds like your alternator. Definately get it checked. I've had mine go out on the highway and lost the power steering and was stranded and had to call a tow-truck. Get it checked now and it will save you some headaches later.

sorry you got ripped off..a bad transmission would never make the car shut off. does the car sputter or just stall? If its a relay or electric problem it could be hard to track down

It`s your carburator, just need cleaning,it`s plugged with dirt so your engine gets poor supply of gas. Your mechanic can fix that in an hour or less.

maybe a wiring harness problem. send it to the shop, have them check it out for you. also, could be alternator. lots of possible problems, or a combination of several.
