He could just be subdued because he didn't enjoy the experience, his balance could be off because he got water in his ears. But...

I've heard of pets having very, VERY bad reactions to non-prescription flea medications. Particularly the Hartz brand. I don't know how reliable these reports are, but it's enough to make me very wary of using them. If he continues acting strange & having the shakes (an especially bad sign), you may want get him into the vet ASAP.

The water and the smell generally upsets cats, but the shaking and bad balance could either indicate shock, or perhaps water is getting into his ears and causing an ear infection.

You have an emergency on your hands. I hope by the time you see this you are on your way to either your vet or an emergency vet.

Unfortunatly , flea products are often not safe for cats,

First symptoms are exactly what you describe, quiet, balance is bad, shakey.

Please get to a vet.

Your babie could be traumatized! Do you HAVE to bath him? I never bath mine unless they get into something really messy. There are plenty of ways to get rid of flees. Most of the time the fleas live in the carpet, bedding, and such. Get your pets out of the house (in the car works) and bug bomb the place. Talk to your vet! :)

He's mad at you. When they are wet, they don't know quite how to react which makes them seem a little off balance. They shake cuz they're cold after. They will lick themselves dry and get over it. Maybe next time instead of a flea bath, try Advantage or Frontline plus.

Mourning his flea friends? Actually, some of the ingredients in those products are somewhat toxic. Too much on his skin might cause a reaction. I'd give the vet a quick call.

the flea soap or shampoo may have some kind of chemical that upsets his body system and the water may be too cold. did you read the instruction on the bottle or soap container it should also explain at what age you can use the flea soap or shampoo on kittens.
your better off using a flea comb for now until he gets older.

If he has neuroloigcal damage which causes bad balance, than he has definitely been poisoned by ingesting flea shampoo. He needs to be taken to the vet ASAP, because this can be fatal.

Sounds like pesticide poison! NEVER use stuff like flea baths or collars, only vet approved treatments. RUSH HIM TO THE VET NOW!!! He may die on the way! Pesticides are toxic and kill animals! Some animals are more sensive to these products!!

This is an allergic reaction to whatever flea treatment you used, MANY FLEA TREATMENTS ARE HARMFUL AND POISONOUS TO CATS.
Visit http://www.hartzvictims.org to get an idea.

Take your cat to a vet, don't post on this board. Those symptoms constitute as an emergency.
