He also eats the leaves of smaller trees. How can I stop this? And no I will not call Ceasar Milan.

It's possible he's eating grass and leaves (and possibly other things - sticks, rocks, etc) because his stomach is upset. They eat this stuff because they know it will make them throw up, and will make their stomach feel better.

Try giving a Pepcid AC half hour before a regular feeding and see if that helps the tummy, and keeps your dog out of the grass. By all means though, don't let him eat grass or leaves.

Good luck!

Sometimes animals do this, including my rabbit. When I took Sassy to the vet she said this was normal sometimes it's that certain patch of grass that has something in it that they need and they will chew on it or maybe even eat it.My vet said that animals come down with things such as colds or whatever and they will eat this and it will make them feel better.Or maybe a upset stomach and we don't know.Never the less she said don't worry. They have more sense than people.LOL

My 2 girls occasionally eat grass but usually it's when they have over eaten or they have a little upset tummy ... I wouldn't stop them just watch to see if it's too often as there may be a hidden problem needing attention by your VET

Well, they eat grass to make themselves vomit out bile, so I guess it's a good thing. As for leaves, I'm not really sure about that. Maybe it's the same as grass?

like the others have suggested, canines eat grass even as their abdomen is disillusioned. I recommend feeding her fried hamburger and rice jumbled in a bowl. it is going to calm her abdomen. even with the indisputable fact that the perfect challenge is to no longer feed her raw rooster...or some thing raw that's no longer vegitables.

I always heard that dogs eat grass because it soothes their stomachs. I would say if its not hurting the dog don't worry about it!!

HAHA....Is it really that big of a problem? I mean if he is eating the whole tree or bush then talk to your vet, but if it's just leaves, then I don't think it is that bad.

don't try to stop him. he's doing it for a reason (he wants to throw up) it sounds stupid but they don't just eat grass because they like grass it's because they are sick. if you stop him it might make it worse
