It is a nationality, if you refer to hispanics then let me inform you there has always been Hispanics in America... yeah legal,hard working, tax paying Hispanics.
Some of them are even members of the Minute-Men.

Mexican is a Nationality
Hispanics are a political subset of the Caucasian race
Jews are a religious group, the majority of whom are caucasian
Years of these divisions, and the societal norms have led people to refer to them as races.
Yes, a Jewish man is most likely to marry a Jewish woman, and their offspring is most likely to be raised Jewish. But what is to stop that child from becoming a Christian? or a Muslim? or a Bhuddist? Nothing, he is merely changing his religion and he is no longer a Jew, yet she/he is still caucasian. The religion may change, but the race does not.
A similar experience happens within nationalities.
However, years of these marriages has led to distinctive characteristics within these subsets. Hispanic Caucasians tend to have darker skin than Scandinavian Caucasians.

Insensitivity. Of course there are legal, hard working, tax paying Hispanics! There are legal, hard working, tax paying caucasians also; and african americans; and native americans...it's the ones that AREN'T legal that are the problem! Race isn't the question, it's legality. If people can't follow the rules set down for entering the country, why do we believe they'll follow the rules (laws) once they're here!?!

Nobody thinks mexican is a race, its a nationality.
But it should really be called Wannabe White Man.
Because Mexicans want the white man's life so bad they're willing to sneak across the border and sleep in the back of trucks.

you are so right. hispanics fought for independence from mexico. even more of them than whites. it's not a matter of race. it's a matter of legal vs illegal, right vs wrong, and america against mexico, who is irresponsible and ineffective at our borders. i think the mexican government encourages this emigration to the U S. and it is a damn shame about our OWN ineffectiveness. i'm at the point of ranting so i will stop now.

I knew the difference...but that's probably because I live 45 minutes from the Mexican border and we're taught to be correct with our "terminology" down here!
There are a TON of Hispanics in the U.S....from Cuba, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Mexico and numerous other Latin American countries!
