Why is Islam called a peaceful religion when the Koran advocates the killing of those who dont convert to it? The non-Islamic are called "Infadels" and are considered to be unholy and thus less valuable as a human. How can we look past terrorist acts that are rooted soley in Islamic teaching? Time to put 2 and 2 together.

Much in the way Homosexuals who claim Faith in Christ justify their sin; Followers of Islam who seek peace have found it convenient to follow only those portions of the teachings of Muhammed which they find palitable thus creating a god in their own image.
Of course considering Allah is a false god this is not much of a stretch.
In fact I would say Gay "christians" commit the worse transgression because they are fabricating an idol in Jesus Christs image which according to them actaully endorses sexual immorality.
Islamic terrorists, though Demon Possessed, at least are adhereing fully to the true written word of their religion.

I'm not an expert at Islam. But from what you are saying, you might as well say Christianity, and Judaism are non-peaceful religions, because both religions believe in the concept of Holyness, Eternal Punishment, and bad things happening to bad people. The possible difference is what Christians do to share thier religion. Christians have a motto "Share the Gospel, and if necessary use words", meaning that the best way to share our religion is by doing good to others, and forgiving others. I don't know what Islam teaches, I have not studied the Koran much, because I don't see any enlightenment in much of what I read.
I think some Christians that have studied the Koran might say that Islam was started through military actions rather than by convincing people to convert to Islam, but that doesn't exclude the convincing part.
I'm not ready to say that Islam by nature is a violent, non-peaceful religion, but I do think that some of the Koran that I have been shown could cause people to resort to violence inspired by the Koran. But most of the terrorism that you hear about in the News is by extremist groups that totally distort the Koran, or add teachings to it. There are fanatics under almost any religion, Japan has Bhuddist extremist terrorist groups. Imagine that? The Christian religions have sects that are extremist, and people within denominations that have gone to extremes and killed in the name of God. It's easy to slip into this way of thinking, perhaps easier if you live in a third world country and are taught from youth that the Zionists Infidels must die.

Most non-Muslims have not studied Islam. But then again many Muslims don’t live by the basics of Mohamed’s teachings. Here are some excerpts about Muslim basics:

http://spirituality.indiatimes.com/articleshow/995419914.cms
“Islam, The Religion Of Peace”
The model world, according to Islam, is a world of peace. Islam in itself means a religion of peace.

There are many verses in the holy Quran and hadith, which emphasise on compassion. For instance, the Prophet said: "O people, be compassionate to others so that you may be granted compassion by God."

Once a person came to the Prophet and asked him, "O Prophet, give me an advice by which I may be able to manage all the affairs of my life." The Prophet replied: "Don't be angry. Even if people provoke you, don't lose temper and forgive those who make you angry. Adopt forgiveness as your behaviour."

One of the hardest things to follow for us imperfect humans is to willingly think and act with compassion and forgiveness towards the “other”. Yet it has been taught by a number of “religions” including Islam.

But the concept appears to us as “not logical”, “impractical” or “unrealistic”. So we find excuses or make “interpretations” or pick more “logical” parts from our holy books to “justify” our actions, and forget about the basic truth.

That’s why we have Jihad and why we had “holy wars” and why we are still condemning and fighting “the others” (infidels or whatever!). That’s also why we have various fractions of Muslims or Christians or Jews or Buddhists etc., though they ALL teach the wisdom of compassion and forgiveness.

Just imagine! If all humans would willingly (not because they have been told) act out of compassion and forgiveness toward the "others" there truly would be peace on Earth! - No, I'm not perfect either!

"If any show patience and forgive, that truly would be an exercise of courageous will and resolution in the conduct of affairs." Qur'an: Sura 42:43 (Counsel)

As someone put it: To love is the answer - whatever the question!

This extremely flawed logic. There are millions of Muslims peacefully practicing their religion, and yet there are so many who are willing to judge a whole faith on the basis of the actions of a few. Well, if this were the case, then what if we were to judge Christianity on the basis of a few lunatics who bomb abortion clinics or kill abortion doctors, or the nutcases out at Westboro Baptist in Kansas who picket the funerals of gays and hold up all manner of offensive signs denigrating the loved ones being mourned at these funerals? Would that be fair? Or accurate? Yes, terrorist acts are rooted in Islamic teachings, but to suggest that one is solely responsible for the other is disingenuous. The terrorists are choosing the aspects of the Koran that advocate what they no doubt already believe and want to advance. This is no different from Christians who ignore vast swaths of the Bible in order to get to the parts that justify their own prejudices and hatreds. No different at all.

Right....I bet it was very easy to ask the question...not ur fault though what ever we see in newspaper everyday and Tv you have every righ to ask that question becuase u have only seen one side of the picture....But i am afraid the side ypu have seen the back side pf the picture becuase thats what this media and some people who call themselves muslims have done this to show us all that whats happening today..but I am afraid you havnt seen the front yet or may be you will never ever see that coz most of the people go with flow and every knows where the flow is going. But who knows who is doing that.Do u know do i know? No we dont know Infact we only know what we read listen or hear.and who says that Non-islamic people are being hatred or called infadels.Infact i sometimes wonder that the way Koran and GOD has told muslims to treat other people is just exceptional. There are thousands of examples are in the history where one wonders that why are they so kind with other religions but not with ours in humanity.just open koran and read and tell me that is you can find any example where it ask to hate or kill people who dont follow Islam.
But please one thing reminded i a not asking you to go to todays one terrorist(whatever thier fake religion is) and ask him to explain this to you and i am just asking you to refer to the BOOK every muslim refers to and asks for guidence.

i hope it will reveal some facts to you and will remove some fake ideas and will guide you better about ISLAM.

Because of the same reason Christianity and Judaism are called peaceful religions. They all teach peace, but they're all chock full of gory, violent stories, and all three have been/are used as justification for despicable acts.

Plus, the terrorist acts aren't rooted solely in Islamic teaching, any more than it's because they "hate our freedom." Rather, the terrorists use muslim's faith as a way to harden them against their foes. It's easier to get someone to blow himself up if he thinks God's got his back, than if it's just because you'd rather the US not put military bases in Saudi Arabia.

Hate to pop your bubble "Blackacre", but that was a quote from the OLD testament, when Jesus came into the world he relieved us of having to live under the old laws. Otherwise we'd have animal sacrifices and such. So please understand the subject you're talking about else you'll just confuse everyone.

First off, the Quran doesn't advocate killing of those who don't convert to islam or of those who convert from it... Second, don't christians call anyone who doesn't believe in their faith heretics? Third, terrorism isn't rooted in islamic belief, just because someone says they are muslim doesn't make them one.

I think people who generally worship Islam are peaceful people. Possibly when you become a muslim you are to treat people with respect. I think the whole killing of those who dont convert is taken really literally. I have a friend who is a muslim and they once commented that that more refers to people who threaten the worship that is already going on. Be peaceful and you get peace.

I dunno... good question though.
