It is done to all breeds, not just pits..People can be very cruel..
it is usually much like a bully..afraid of the world, so they have to harm something..just to show that they are in charge and have control over some part of life..

Some people are very sick. Pitbulls are not bad animals they have been bred to be fighting dogs but can be very docile. There is no reason why people should hurt them. Pitbulls are only hurt because people are predjudiced against them and I say Why did we create them if we wanted to kill them? Also I think that only if people starve, beat or anything cruel like that to the pitbulls thew dogs wont know good from bad.

LMAO Where do you people come up with these myths , old wives tales and fantasys ? I have never known any dogmen who have ever used a cat or mutt to be used as bait. It is simply not done by true game dog fanciers. As stated before, it would be like putting a pro boxer against a ten year old kid. There is no purpose to it and the outcome is already known. Starving a dog and the " taste of blood" is BS and is in the trash category with the "locking jaw" myth.
Matches are not " to the death " as a prerequsite to proclaim a winner . Amateurs and wannabes are on a different planet than dogmen that have basically spent their entire lives improving the APBT and keeping the dog as it is intended to be. Game dogs as a whole are better cared for than the dogs you have at home . They are exercised more, fed better, vet care is usually available on a moments notice. we don`t wait 3 days to see if Fido is going to live or not nor do we seek medical advice from Yahoo. We know our dogs in and out , we know what our dogs will do in any situation before the dog does. Money? If a dogman makes a profit after the hours, days, years and decades in this labor of love, I have yet to meet that person. Anyone that owns an APBT owes a debt of gratitude to men such as Earl Tudor, Sparks, Ralph Greenwood ( I lost call name " Honey" a year ago and she was descended from some Greenwood dogs ) Don Mayfield , Floyd Boudreaux, Maurice Carver, Bert Sorrell, Wallace, Hemphill and hundreds of others. If it was`nt for men like these there would be no APBT. Name one instance (first hand experience or in historical records) where a true game dog has attacked the owner or someone else without provocation . I will consider that none of you have ever seen a game dog. I thought as much.

I don't know how anybody can hurt any animal. I think a lot of people have a really bad misconception about pitbulls. They're not my favourite breed, but I would never hurt and/or starve them.

Some sick minded, sadistic people actually still fight pit bulls. They sometimes even train them to kill kittens when they are puppies. Others think that this will make them aggressive and mean and that they will be a better guard dog. That's where they get the reputation for killing. They are actually very loving and loyal pets. My pretty girl is full blooded pit and is a sweetheart!

They say that true psychopaths start out hurting and or killing animals first. Then move on to people. ANYONE that would intentionally hurt any animal has some serious mental issues. APBT's are the snuggliest, cuddliest and most eagar to please dogs(you would have to raise one from a puppy to know this).

it seems that the people starve their dogs because they dont want to walk them and if they dont feed them then they dont poop in the house very often

Because there are a lot of sick, ignorant, evil, cruel, SOBs out there. A lot of people who do that use them for fighting and do not care about the dog. Once they have had their fun they do not care what happens to the dog. The Pit Bull is exploited for its power and nothing else. By nature they are a very loving breed that will do anything their master asks of them.
