recent events in my life have caused me to question my God and whether or not he's there for me. i just feel like he's ignoring me and all i want is a little happiness in my life. everytime i want something, i can never seem to get it no matter how hard i try, it's always one reason or another idk what else to do. im starting to think maybe it just everyone for himself and that God might not exist.

He exists and in times like these you have to believe it even more than when life is good. Just because you're having a crappy time does not mean that he's not there, he just wants you to realize he's there. Open your heart and pray

Assuming God is real and is endowed with cousiousness and purpose as so many believe then let's ask the question, "why should the creator of the universe get involved in the petty afairs of individuals?"

In your case, why would God either put obstacles or remove obstacles in your path? Isn't it the ultimate conceit to think you are so important on the universal scale to merrit such "hands-on" from God?

Come on man, stop blaming others for what happens or doesn't happen to you. Much will change when you step up to the plate and become the decision maker in your life. Then just do the best you can one decision at a time.

As for God, it is hard not to believe in God when you glimps the wonder of the universe that surrounds you. When you look at the those ancient mountains or timeless sea and the fragile life that clings to each, the beauty of that life reflects God. How can that force be concerned with how we cling to existence.

Just be glad to be here at all, quit complaining and go do something to make the world a little better.

The Psalms are full of your complaint. It is an age old whine. Do not want anything other than your daily bread and deliverance from evil. Scripture says seek ye first the Kingdom of God and all else will be given to you. I have found that the best way to handle disappointment with unanswered prayers (or prayers I THINK are unanswered) is to embrace the situation that promoted the prayer knowing that it was God's will and that was that and I did not understand why God wanted me to undergo what ever it was but, I was willing to do it for his sake. Every time very soon the situation eased and my problem rectified itself. Read Job. That helps too.

Nah. Probably just the fact that what you're going after isn't what He has planned for you.

As a Christian, it's not about what we want. God has plans for each of us, & He offers us chances to fall in line with His will. When we don't, we get disappointed.

If, however, we seek His will for our lives & agree with His plans, we'll seldom see disappointment.

Sometimes, this takes sitting back & really looking at our options & what seems to be available. Usually, we'll come to see his point of view. Remeber, His will is perfect, & He only wants us to be happy. When we don't He'll keep giving us hints...

He's there for you, no way He can't be. And He's certainly not ignoring you - that's simply not possible either. What He may be doing, though, is waiting on you to catch up with Him...

That's something you truly need to answer for yourself. I have had events in life in the past few years and I've realised that the only person you can be true to is yourself. God can't take the flack for all the unfortunate things that happen in life. One of the things I would suggest is talking to a person of faith but only you can make that decision.

Things happen in life and believe me I've questioned faith...losing two people close to me within a year had me almost breaking down.

I guess true spirituality is within yourself and I don't look for outside answers anymore.

Join the club. I never tell people where to go with this. But I do have to say that once you start questioning "satan" gets in and makes life worse. I would go to the direct source God. I should have done that and still should do that, but the longer you wait the more stubborn you become and hard headed and eventually you just start to loose your faith and your belief until you have no purpose with God and it seems he isnt there.

I use to be a christian... I use to believe... I have little faith now in anything. I would say if you have faith in God once, dont loose it... go back to him... figure a way to stay strong with him. Dont turn into a pagan like me.

To understand your relationship with God you have to understand the relationship between a child (that's us) and a parent.

Here is something to chew on: My child wants a great many things. He is almost 2 and around him he sees many things that he wants and getting them will make him happy. I have a different perspective as a parent. Many things that he thinks are fun I know will ultimately hurt him and maybe kill him. For example, he desperately wants to put toys into light sockets. When I don't let him and put plastic protectors on the light sockets he screams and cries as though I am the worst parent in the world.

That is our relationship with God (however one understands that term). I had a person tell me that if God truely loved him that God would give him a Porsche because this person would give his own son a Porsche if he wanted it. I asked him, would you give your son that Porsche if you new he would drive fast, crash it and ultimately kill himself?

Sometimes we ask for what we think is happiness when in fact it is that Porsche.

Hope this helps

Sometimes questions help the answerer more than the person asking the question. In this case you reminded me that I need to read the Bible, especially Psalms. Psalms refreshes your faith. The only way I know to have faith is by reading the Bible. The less I read the Bible the weaker my faith is. Reading the Bible is like God talking to you. God wants us to read the Bible, to know him. If you don't know his ways you are lost, and surely you will lose your faith. Faith comes by hearing the word of God.
I'm depressed, and tired, and feel like I'm going nowhere. but now I realise that I have not been reading the Bible enough.

We should rememer that NONE of us are entitled to anything. Sure, we'd all love our lives to be easy, and filled with happiness and peace, but that is just not reality. And so, sometimes, no matter how hard we try, we cannot attain these things.

Maybe the answer is not in trying, but in deeply appreciating the things we have and the situation we are in. Easy for me to say, I'm not in your shoes.

Lastly, instead of blaming God, or losing faith just because you didn't get your way, continue to trust that He knows your needs and your wants, and that in His time and His way, you will be blessed. Who wants their way right now? A spoiled brat little kid?

The answer: TRUST, FAITH, HOPE, PERSEVERANCE.

Everybody goes through this stage in their faith, it's because of the devil getting into your life. Pray to God that He will be with you and for Him to send the devil away form you. Then after you pray, talk with a pastor or someone with a high Christian authority to help you with this, but don't be embarrassed because it happens to everyone. Then after this try to go to church as much as you can and remember to pray, it doesn't hurt to so do it all the time, tithe ( to give back to God's house) and read your bible. I heard from members from my church to start in John, it will help you through the rest. I hope I helped you even a little bit, but God will do the rest!
