It's not that I'm having extreme symptoms, but I sometimes become paranoid... could someone help me out a little here? I would research it myself, but I don't know what to look for, because I don't know of any specific illness that I may have. Are there any general symptoms?

confusion, irritability, paranoia, sleeping too much, sleeping too little, mind racing, no concentration, inability to perform everyday duties, thoughts of suicide, eating disorders, and so many more. I would try http://www.webmd.com - they might have the answers you are looking for.

The simplest sign of any mental illness is a reaction without a stimulus. As for research, try the National Institutes of Mental Health website below. They have a great wealth of information to guide you.

PS--avoid Scientologists :)

Paranoia could be a symptom of a lot of things...it could be mental and it could even be thyroidal symptoms. I just learned this recently because one of my ex-sister in laws is having problems staying in a job because she thinks that everyone is out to get her and she eventually quits. You need to see a doctor to get a full check up and tell them your symptoms...Good luck!
