I need to learn how to drink beer because I'm going on college exchange to England. I usually detest the taste of beer, and I usually drink hard vodka/wisky and other types of cocktails. How do I learn to like the taste of beer (in large quantities) or will I never if I don't like it now??

Serious answers only please!

Beer in England is a different type of lager anyway. If you need to practice in the states try a can of Steel Beer. It is actually called Steel Beer because thats all they make. Look for the 211 symbol, which is the medieval symbol for steel. This beer will approximately give you head which you won't get off most American beers.

All I did to get used to the taste of beer was drink enough of it. I sounds stupid and will taste discusting for the first few times you try it but it works. Always drink beer that is really cold. To begin try light colored beers, and once you get passed the first three, the next three or six go down nice and easy! Beer has a different type of buzz than whisky and you'll be amazed at how much money you'll save at the bar!

First off, why do you feel obligated to make yourself like something you don't?

Anyway, I didn't really start drinking beer until a few years ago. I always drank vodka or other liquor. I definitely think that beer is an aquired taste. There are so many different flavors of beer. You need to just maybe test many different kinds to find out if there is one that you actually like. I personally like dark beer but I can't stand beer like budweiser, busch etc.

I never really liked the taste of beer when I first started to drink it but if you slowly start off by drinking beer that doesnt have that much alcohol like 4 or 5% and start replacing beer with the hard liquor you mentioned you'll eventually get used to it.

Guinness is a confusing first beer. that's really heavy. you should paintings as a lot as that. in case you want a good starter beer that tastes good, isn't bitter and would not grant you with a hangover or the shits the subsequent morning, attempt Rolling Rock. In some elements of Europe, they drink Guinness (and different beers) at room temperature. i like beer, yet i have discovered it truly must be magnificent and chilly as a fashion to take excitement in it. i have tried thousands of beers from around the country and the international. once you get used to it, there is not any longer some thing like it. good luck!

Personally, I love beer. I suggest that you start out with lighter beers. If you are going to England, you have to start developing a taste for Bass. How about ciders? The Brits like those. Woodpecker is awesome. Stay away from the stouts and porters.

Try diffrent brands and types until you find one you like. Dark beers seem to be more flavorful and wheat beers have a lighter refreshing taste that are good with lemon. Stay away from the big mass produced labels and go with a microbrew or craft beer.

I have been told if you drink it enough soon you'll love it. I personally don't like the taste or smell of beer, but I've heard people say they didn't but now they can't get enough of it. Good luck and hopefully beer will taste better in England.

honestly the only way I have heard people who dont like beer say they like it is from just choking it down. I would suggest having beer with meals you like. If you really enjoy a meal, then you can train youyrself to believe you really like beer. It is simple operant conditioning. With other stimuli around you that you find appealing the taste of beer should begin to change as well
