I work all day and somedays it is hard to do stuff with my kids. I'm now cutting back my hours and wanting to do some stuff with my kids. What are some good ideas that I can do at home during the week and what would be good to do on the weekends.

Spend the time getting to know your kids and ask them their interests likes and dislikes. Use this information to help support them through their education and home life.
It doesn't matter what you do as long as you have fun together. Be creative have every one come up with ideas and try each one.
The more you talk with your kids the more of a family you become. I especially liked the times we each took turns commenting on positive things for each member of the family, this builds self esteme and is a lot of fun.

Congrats on cutting back for family time. Have you asked the kids to chime in on the decision? I find that if I try too hard to fill our family time with my choices, that the kids sometimes don't share my idea of what is fun and a good bonding experience. You can all take turns selecting what the family will do during family time. Some families have a specific night or a certain time that must be all family. You can even allow the kids to vote on that time as well. I definitely suggest sharing interests. You will be surprised at what your children find fun to do and what they are interested in doing. They may even enjoy what you like to do and will know that soon their turns are coming around to pick what they want as well. Good luck with the time together...enjoy!

Reading, coloring, drawing, making shopping lists and then shopping, painting, cleaning, talking, playing with toys, going to the park, story time at the library, take them to the gym, go on a hike at the park, nature walks in the neighborhood, picnics, put up a tent in the back yard and play in it, take all their toys outside and play there for a change, sit outside and write down everything you see then talk about how that makes you feel, or what the colors are or whatever. Kids like anything really.
