We have a tradition that every Friday is pizza night. This can be all that is to our family night cuz we all get together to eat and talk or we can watch a movie, play a board game, go to the park, sometimes we play it by ear and take suggestions on what the kids feel like doing that day.

I prefer Friday night....since my kids rather spend all day Saturday with their friend when school is in session. We have 4 children so each one gets a friday to pick dinner and our activity. However, my 5 y/o always wants pizza and a family battle of Playstation and Xbox. My older children prefer between going out to the movies to go-carting to going thru cookbook to make different foods.
Everything really depends on the ages of your children and what yall can agree to do. Since we are a family of 6, we have managed to work things out very well. Good luck.

I am raising grandchildren, and we picked Saturday night for family night. It is the only quiet family time we have together all week, so I always make a treat for dessert, or buy pizza, and we watch a movie that is a family type movie. I did this all the years I raised my own kids, and it was always something they looked forward to. When they were teenagers, they even started inviting their friends- which made me feel very special, and I knew where my kids were.

I have two children. 7,5. So on fridays is our family night. First we talk, the whole family. My children tell me what happened in school. Then we play something. We just go out for dinner. Mostly to family restaurants like McDonalds or Pizza. Watch a movie. I mean a children movie. Just for them, we sit and watch with them. After that only on Friday nights, my children are allowed to sleep in our bedroom.
I take time for my children and I love my kids more than anything in this world.

We make it extended family night and invite other family members over as well. We play music and the kids all sing and dance (karaoke). We usually make our own individual pizza's (Boboli crust) and lots of weird toppings. We have to do this on Fridays because it's usually a pretty late night when all the fun is over and the kids are exhausted.

Tomorrow night we are going out for dinner and to see Open Season. You don't need to spend a lot of money, just do stuff together. Sometimes we go to the park and feed the geese. At times we even work on small home improvement projects together like changing a faucet or lighting fixture. Since I know how to do that, they learn something they can use later on.

Well it is just my wife and I but we still have family night. We sit and play games with each other. Sometimes it is board games or sometimes we play card games. The way we decide who gets to make the decision is who ever won the last game played makes the decision for the next game.
