Like others have said, a loss of 2 lbs per week is healthy and also means you're not just shedding water weight. I recommend a combo of cardio and weight lifting. You may actually put on weight in the beginning because muscle weighs more than fat, but the more muscle you have, the more calories your body can burn. Alternate days of cardio and weights and you'll do great. Take the weekend off so your body can recover and drink tons of water.

Small meals throughout the day will keep your metabolism on high helping you to avoid storing calories as fat. Stay clear of sugar since it promotes increased insulin levels which leads to more fat storage. Soda is of the Devil! =)

You probably don't need supplements since you were previously sedentary. The simple change in lifestyle should have a huge impact on your weight.

I'm a man currently 10 lbs into my 130 lb weight loss goal.

As a man and a young one at that, you have a built in advantage in that you don't have to diet too hard to lose weight. How many calories are you shooting for per day? 2000 to 2500? Given that you are eating healthy and exercising now, the weight really should melt off of you at 2 to 3 lbs a week. I'd bet that by end of March you should be there.

congratulations on deciding to change to a healthier lifestyle! If you are devoted to this, you can lose a healthy 2 pounds a week. You can do the math at how long that will take. I know it is not recommended to lose anymore than 2 though. A great website that has helped me tremendously is www.sparkpeople.com. It helps you track your food intake and exercise. It also helps to set goals towards a healthy lifestyle. I wish you the best of luck!

congratulations on your decision. If you lose two pounds a week, obviously it will take you about 33 weeks to lose the weight you wish to lose. The southbeach diet is a great diet for healthy weight loss, suggest you pick one up at your local book store.
