No, Rottweilers are know to be mentally unstable. They maybe loyal for a long time, then suddenly attack the owner who has taken care of them for years - even if there has been no mistreatment of any kind by the human. This is possibly due to the inbreeding of the species in an attempt to create a larger, more aggressive dog.
German Shepherds are only a few steps behind them. Again, due to inbreeding, the dogs have a tendency to turn violent (though not nearly as much or often as a Rottweiler.) They are unquestionably loyal though until this time.
The practice of "inbreeding" is standard in the canine community, and has been used for a long time to bring out specific desirable traits (such as small or large animals, a good sense of smell, or even coloring.) The practice, however, leads to a similar strengthening of other unwanted traits that may not be apparent until it is too late to "breed them out" (all the animals with the desired trait now have the bad ones and will pass it on.)

Yes, at least the Rottie. I have never owned a German Shepherd. My Rottie, Keilah just passed Saturday night. She was the sweetest best friend in the world. So smart and I know she understood what we said. She was diagnosed with cancer about 3 weeks ago. The chemo and meds worked for a while, she got better and worse and died at home. I miss her so much. I also have a dalmation and he is also as sweet as can be. He misses her too

I do agree that German Shepherds and Rottweilers are the best dog for you. But, I also think that a person should choose a breed that best suits their space, income, family and other conditions. To say that one or two breeds are superior to all others is a subjective opinion. Therefore, the "best dog" may be a different breed for someone else. I personally love my Black Labs!! But I also admire German Shepherds, Rottweilers, and many other breeds!

The best dog for one may be worst dog for another.............it all depends on the purpose for the dog....a pom may make a lousy guard dog, and Rott isn't too good of a lap dog....
The personal purpose of the dog owner determines the best dog for him...
I like labs, German shepherds, Rotts, Pit bulls, spaniels, etc.
I can barely tolerate ankle-biters like pekes, chihuahuas, poms & dogs like that...
My daughter & son-in-law have a black lab/Rott mix & it's about the smartest, funniest, most loving dog l've ever seen...you'd almost think she was human.
Rotts, Pit bulls, Dobermans, and German shepherds are all great dogs, but sometimes can be a problem because of their aggressiveness towards strangers..
Hope this helps.
Be Blessed <><

Everyone likes different dogs.
My granmother raised Shepherds for over 40 years, many of her pups became police dogs. So Shep's have a special place in my heart.
I grew up with Rotts, my parents still foster them (and recently adopted one) I'd have one if I had a big enough yard!
Anyone who has a met a Rott who was properly raised knows they aren't man-eating-can turn on you at any second- killer dogs.

I LOVE German shepherds, and I respect Rottweilers, especially when they've been well-trained and socialized properly. Both breeds are known for their intelligence and personalities.

They are both great dogs and I have had both. I do not like the little dogs either. I like to have active dogs that can go on a run or long hike, and be protective.
