I wanted to find cheap artwork for my house, so I thought I could take pics myself and blow them up. I like the look of black and white, but my furniture is all wood. Do black and white pics have to be in a black frame? Will it clash badly to have black frames and wood furniture? Thanks for opinions!

I said TAKE the pics myself, not OF myself. LOL. I was planning on trees, or I saw on trading spaces once they took close up shots of the kids faces, like one part of the face, and blew those up. Just wanted to clear that up.

Just b/c u use black and white film doesn't mean the frames have to be black or white. U would want to bring out the pic more. Depending on the Shadow lets say from the tree and it looks more dark get a white matte and still have a light wooden frame. Depending on the color of wood u have u could use black wooden frames, white, cherry red etc. And how close are the pics to the furniture. If the furniture is far enough from the wall it doe snot matter what color of wood frames u use. Choose careful of matte backgrounds so that that would coordinate with one another on the wall. Have fun. Don't forget to add a few color pics also. Have fun.

I would consider framing all of your B&W photos with black or silver frames and hang them on one wall. Make one wall your personal gallery... very tasteful. For the other walls, have you thought about going to Marshalls, Ross, or TJ Max to purchase inexpensive cool paintings/pictures that already have a frame?

As far as wood furniture and B&W pictures with black frames, it feels like it would clash to me. I guess I'd have to see the furniture to really have an opinion however.

Well... that's my 2 cents. :)

Good Luck and go with what you like and what feels rights. Heck.. you're the one living there and you know best. Trust your instincts. :)

That's the great thing about black and white photography...it goes with everything! Instead of JUST pics of yourself (that might seem a bit narcissistic) try pics of your friends, family, pets, trees....and so on. Have whatever frame you please! Black tends to be more uniform, but you could put those suckers in just about anything, and have it look good!
