Tell the truth, or blow it off? The baby really is ugly. I always changed the subject, but someone else told them what I said.

Tell the person that you told that you thought it was info for just between you tow and that you never intended for it to go any further. I have to wonder why this person told them what you said! What will that person get out of making trouble for you? Also why would you say that about a person's baby, especially family! That will only hurt your family by building walls around you where no one will appreciate your presence.Think about why you did it. Are you jealous? Most babies aren't their most beautiful at birth but get better. Even if the baby was the ugliest one on earth you just say isn't it sweet or look at that hair or something so you don't hurt them. They are family and need build up and not put down!Apologize to the baby's parents and then don't do that kind of stuff anymore. You have learned 2 lessons at least. Don't trust the person you told and don't hurt the people you love. Best wishes!

I'm sure that we can all admit to seeing an ugly baby at one time or another. Not all of them can be as beautiful as our own.
BUT...
Hey, I say, if you are worried about having to face your actions then the best policy would have been to keep your opinion to yourself in the first place. But you cannot turn back time and undo it so, you either need to apologize or just do as you do here on Y!A and take an offensive defense and make the whole thing so much worse.
BTW- is this the cousin that calls you baby fat? If so, you did not prove yourself the better person by making a retalitory comment such as that.

This is not a time when truth is better. How would you feel if you were in that persons shoes? I doubt very good. Even if you didn't tell them directly, you did tell someone who obviously has a big mouth and likes to gossip, cause if they didn't no one in their right mind, who had a shred of compassion would repeat that.

You need to be the bigger person, and simply appologize. Don't try to hide what you said. Admit to it and simply say that you are sorry for saying something so hurtful.

To them, I am sure their baby is beautiful.

You should apologize for what you said, it is none of your business to be telling others that a baby is ugly, especially when it's your family. That is a hurtful thing to say. How would you like it if they told you that you, someone you loved or a part of you, were ugly?

Apologize for being rude. Of course you can always find something else nice to say about the baby! It has lots of hair or that sure is a cute outfit!

Admit that you were trying to make a joke ,that it was in poor taste and it didn't work and you were being thoughtless/drunk/tasteless egged on by the person who told on you.
Obviously you don't have a child yourself , and work a compliment about what a good parent the person is in somehow.
Then go out and buy the baby a top notch gift.
Good luck.

Maybe your kids are ugly. If an actually family member tells you then I'd say it's true. Accept it and move on. Nothing you can do about it.

My older cousin Kevin. He has continually been like a brilliant brother to me. he's a candy and worrying man or woman. Plus he's amazingly some exciting to be around. We lovingly gave him the nickname of "difficulty".

Slap her in the face and knock the baby from her arms, then karate chop her husband on the bridge of his nose. Really though, I would just say you had one too many vodka martinis!

Well....like my mom use to say to me.
"If you cant say anything nice about a person...then come sit by me"....
Tell them....in some cultures, people think your ugly. And say...this just happens to not be that culture. Then get your fruit salad and go home...
