If you can afford it then stone, No matter what type , make certain that it is bedded in a weak mortar mix, this prevents hair-line cracks.
Tilers dont like doing this because it is too much trouble !!!

Stone or Resin, even the best foam ones will fail, well worth the extra money spent.

- is it a long term investment or will you probably move in foreseeable time?
- which material is safer (risk of slipping)
- which material keeps better it's good look at longer term and/or at lower maintainig costs?
