Civil Engineering is the oldest engineering known to mankind. They practised it without knowing the word civil engg.
Everything that are needed by an community (people) , for their comfort, wellbeing etc., are made it to ground by these engineers.
It is a multi disciplinary field. It consists of
1. Surveying (including Remote sensing)
2. Housing and Urban Development engineering
3. Transportation engineering
4. Structural Engineering
5. Soil mechanics ie Geotechnical engineering
6. Irrigation Engineering (Watershed management etc)
7 Coastal Zone engineering
8 Environmental and Public health engineering
and lot more
U can see from the above list, u are normally come across all these things every day. most of them are interlinked.
