I have a pretty serious staph infection that Ive had for some time now, and the current specialist I am seeing only puts me on the same antibiotics and its not getting rid of it. Ive had several people tell me that I should just go to the hosiptal and have an antibiotics through an IV, but when I have mentioned that to my doctor, she shruggs it off. Not to mention that for the past few months I havent been able to get an appointment with this doctor, or any other infectious disease doctor in my area, Ive been on my health care providers website to find a physician and Im having no luck. I have done a lot of research online about staph infections and its starting to freak me out... PLEASE HELP.

Where did you get this staph infection? I know of several people that contracted one while being in the hospital. And an IV was the only was to treat it. some are worse than others and are with you for the rest of your life, but if the antibiotics this Dr is prescribing isn't working and it is getting worse YOU HAVE A PROBLEM! GO TO A HOSPITAL and get this taken care of as an emergency. This is nothing to be delaying about...

GO TO THE HOSPITAL!!!! I almost died of staph when i was three years old b/c my Dr. kept telling my parents it wasn't any big deal. The Emergency room told my parents that if they would have waited thru the night I would have died! Although I lived they were deeply concerned they were going to have to amputate my left leg. I am 26 yrs old and still have severe physical scars on my body from the experience. Please, go to the hospital! It is called practicing medicine for a reason. Good Luck and Good Health.

Ask around and see if any of your friends can recommend a good Doctor and if you find a good one like I finally did hang with them! You can go on the web and ask about finding a doctor in your area also you can ask your local hospital for a name of another doctor if you are not pleased with this one! Maybe if you still have toncils get them checked out! HOPE YOU ARE BETTER SOON!

well i think it's time for you to change doctors to ;you mite have to go yo the ememgency room and tell them about you staph infection and tell them your doctor is out foe 2 weeks ; and maybe they can hook you up with another specialist. tell them it;s more worse than ever;;..i had the same problem with my doctor;and i changed hosp;s now i;m back to square 1. try to tell your doctor that the meds are not working; and to go another way '. if she resists ;than tell your insureance that you must change doc;s rite away good -luck

Go to the hospital, some doctors are not experienced with serious infections like this.
