Let's be clear that our loss in Vietnam was a POLITICAL one and absolutely not a MILITARY one. Our generals in Vietnam were begging for permission to win that war but were consistantly rebuffed by the political leadership in Washington who were fearful about an escalation in the war resulting in a confrontation with the Soviet Union. The policy of LBJ and Nixon then was focussed on somehow "not losing" the war instead of finally deciding to win it as they should have done. Remember also that it was a similar nonsensical policy in the 50's that led us to accept a statemate in Korea---also a war that could easily have been won. Let's not make the same mistake in Iraq. We should escalate the conflict there by finally recognizing that Syria and Iran are the primary causes for the continuation of the conflict. Both nations should be given an ultimatum: Cease your interference in Iraq or we will use nuclear weapons on your cities. Yes the liberals would have a fit at this but they are not patriotic anyway and their opinion should carry no weight with the Bush White House.

In war, when a government becomes "reactive" instead of "proactive" the result will always be the same. When an army has taken all the ground that cant be taken, from that point on they become "reactive" and so begin to loose that ground back to the enemy. The mistake in Iraq was that there was not a government ready to step in and take charge the day that Bagdad fell. AND,,, That is the day that the US began loosing the war.

comparing Vietnam to Iraq shows a lack of mental effort and parroting of infantile liberal chant. Trying learning something about both conflicts and then use the Brain God gave you to form your own ideas.

The only thing that is the same is that the Democratic leftists are giving the enemy moral support to continue fighting us.

For a good example, get General Giap's biography.

In Iraq, it's not about a "war on terror" or "fighting for freedom". It's REALLY all about THIS!...

We definitely aren't losing the war, but it will be hard to get a "total victory".
